Default Half shaft seal leaking

Not sure if it's actually called the half shaft but it's the shaft coming out of my front differential on my driver side. The seal is leaking. My front end shop said the shaft just pops right out? Is this true? They said just hit it with a hammer and it pops right out and u can take the seal out and replace. Said it's wry easy but they want $150 labor to do it...

Default Re: Half shaft seal leaking

Front axle seal leaks are common in GM's. I hear they will pop out very easily, or, sometimes they will not, in which case the front end needs pulled and disassembled. Mine have been leaking for months, I keep checking the fluid until I am better financially ready to have someone change the seals. I am not brave enough to try it in my driveway in case they don't pop right out. I did hear that having a lift makes it easier than on stock vehicles.
