Rattle in Corsa exhaust
I have a Corsa sport exhaust on my 03. Lately, when I've been running the truck a while, it's been making a gawd-awful racket when I'm idling - it sounds like there's a bolt loose and causing the whole thing to vibrate, but I've checked the whole exhaust and it's solid. Could it be something inside the exhaust? Or is there something else I should be looking for?
I don't notice it all the time when I'm idling - it seems to be worse if the truck has been running a while and the exhaust has had time to heat up. And when I give it some gas, it goes away completely.

Re: Rattle in Corsa exhaust
Have you checked for holes in the pipe or the muffler? Also my Corsa exhaust on my H2 the tips touche the metal part of the bumper underneath and I have to step on it sometimes to push it about a half inch down, that causes it to rattle.

Re: Rattle in Corsa exhaust
YOu now have mud/ rocks in your exhaust.
I bet that's the deal.
Have you ever been in deep mud/ water and had to back up?
After your truck has cooled off, take a block of wood and tap on the muffler enough as if you're trying to move mud/ rocks in there.
OR
Your muffler is coming apart.

Re: Rattle in Corsa exhaust
Go to a muffler shop and have them check it out ,I bet they will find it fast and cheap .probably just loose.

Re: Rattle in Corsa exhaust
I think a muffler shop may be the way to go. No noise when I tap on it, so I don't think it's dried mud. But I did see a wear mark on the frame right above the exit pipe. When the muffler is cool, it's a good inch from the frame tho, so unless it's loose somewhere, I can't see how it's getting up there. And I tugged on that bugger, it's not giving at all.
I've noticed a lot has to do with the position the truck is in as well. I listened to it all day yesterday - no noise at all. But the day before it was pretty loud at a stoplight and when parked on the side of a hill.
We'll see what the pros say.

Re: Rattle in Corsa exhaust
Just a quick thought. Do you have air suspension? Is it possible that it is going up or down causing the pipes or muffler to come in contact with something? If you do have the A/ suspension, maybe you should check your clearances at startup and then with the suspension raised all the way up.

Re: Rattle in Corsa exhaust - update
I don't have air ride, but something in the truck IS causing the height to adjust. I tested it yesterday - if I heard the rattle, I let the truck roll forward about an inch and it went away. So what else could it be that needs adjusting?
