Well just changed the regulator and fuel filter and no difference. The O rings were brittle so gave me some justification to change out regulator anyway. 2 last stops, leaky injector and bad fuel pump. Off to find that "braided section" Thanks HUmtech!

Just an update. Checked the pressure at the rails. It was a weak 35 lbs at idle. Changed out the fuel pump , again! Only 1 year old and solved the delayed startup and excessive cranking issues instantly. Must start a thread on the best aftermarket fuel pump. I went with Denso as it had the highest year warranty of 2 years. Cheers!
