How many miles per tank?
How many miles are you getting out of a full tank of gas?
Please list if you have 35", 37", 38" tires Added a roof rack? Added a lift? Altitude you drive at? Octane used? THank you. |
Re: How many miles per tank?
When you say full tank of gas... do you mean running it down to fumes and your truck dies on the side of the road? Or down to E where there is still a few gallons in reserve? Or, 1/4 tank where normal people usually fill up at. Please explain so I can give you the most accurate answer possible.

DEI, I want to thank you for taking the time to ask for clarification. You are very thorough in your replies. Full tank of gas: Fill your tank up to where the auto off on the pump shuts off the filling of your tank. Drive your truck until the LOW light shows on your display. |

timgo are missing your hummer yet ?maybe just a little bit ?

Re: How many miles per tank?
I'm tearing up about 1500 square feet of crypto with each tank full.
I'm considering getting a Wrangler because I'm told you can thrash nearly and acre per tank. |

Wow, a whole acre? I would love to have that kind of crypto-killing mileage. Would a better air filter help me achieve that with my H2? |

Not really. But if you were dragging one of the ball-sack thingies you'd get more coverage. |

Re: How many miles per tank?
Let me be the first to take this seriously....
2006, blah blah blah, see below. No lift Jet Stage I preprocessor (good for an extra 1/2 MPG) 89 octane (regular unleaded) No blower Currently running stock air filter, stock exhaust My range says 330 miles at fill up, my average MPG is 11.1 (right now) |
Re: How many miles per tank?
I just filled up.
Regular octane which is 87 I think. Corsa exhaust Airaid air filter. 22 inch rims with nitto terra grappers I had 403 miles for the range I average in the 12s like 12.4 I think right now. Mostly city driving, I'm a master at coasting, it helps alot, but I dont accelerate lightly. When other people get in my hummer (it gets rented out chauffeured for my limo company) if I reset it they will get 10-11 mpg. |
Re: How many miles per tank?
2003 w/stock tires, stock roof rails, no mods.
66000 miles Have always used regular 87 R+M Octane Avg mpg over the last 6 months = 12.4 (mixed city and freeway). I usually fill up before the Low Fuel signal -- so I'd guess somewhere around 300 miles between fill-ups. :D |
Re: How many miles per tank?
Is anyone getting 350 miles to a tank?

What's the reasoning behind your question? |
Re: How many miles per tank?
I get about 280 miles/tank w/ the stock 35's on and 260 with the 37's (until light comes on). I am a lead foot and go 70-80 on the highway. I get about 10.4 MPG. And 9.5 with the 37's!

Re: How many miles per tank?
running totally stock 2006 average MPG per the DIC is 11.7. I think the last time I looked at the range was a bit over 300 on a full tank.
We averaged 12.6 on the trip down to myrtle beach and back. Was running most of the time between 80 and 90 MPH so didnt expect much more MPG than that. |
Re: How many miles per tank?
i have 37" bfgmts, use 87oct, and get 320 mi per tank w/ about 4-6 gals left in the tank at fill up, but i do fit an extra gallon in the neck until it overflows, and drive 85-90 on hwy. Little less in town, but not heavy on the skinny pedal.

By coasting as much as you can you can probably get at least 5% if not 10% better gas milage. Most of my driving is city, almost all of it. As soon as I see a light turn red I take my foot off the gas and start coasting. As soon as I see a car turning or something I start coasting. I know that I let off the gas way before other people. I'm really good at not having to hit the brakes when in traffic, I can time it so I'm just rolling along at 20mph or whatever traffic is going and I see 10 cars in front of me hitting their brakes and I dont have to hit mine at all or very little when I get too close. Try it. You'd be suprised if your really paying attention how much you can save by as soon as you see a light turn red you let off the gas. THeres a fine line you dont want to be going too slow where cars start passing you before you get to the light etc. But alot of times in traffic I'll be the only car out of 10 that doesnt have to hit my brakes at all in slow and go traffic. Ovbiously if the cars are stopping you have to stop, but the less gas you spend and the less braking saves you pads and rotors and lots of gas over time. Let me know I'm also a bit aggressive on the accelerator, and people could probably average over 13mpg by coasting alot and not slamming on the accelerator. But of course its all in the eye of the beholder. I dont really like paying for gas in my H2, where in my sports cars I dont really care what gas is, but my porsche also gets 27mpg freeway lol. One of the main reasons I hate paying for gas in my H2's is because we spend over $10,000 every month for gas. :( |
Re: How many miles per tank?
This question goes along with the other age old question, "Do you smoke after sex"? Yet, gets the same reply, "I don't know - I never look down there"!

Then tell "someone" to multiply MPG by 32 gallons, because the question is as dumb as "Hey, how much does it cost you to fill that thing up?". |
Re: How many miles per tank?

So, I guess you haven't taken the following into consideration such as: Tires size, acc's, altitude, driving styles all impact what the manfact's post. It's really not a dumb questions at all. Again I'm not after mpg! I'm after mile per tank. You may have mountain drving part as your commute and really suck gas down, but once you're out of altitude or have city driving or even hwy driving for 100 miles or so. You could get 200 miles to a tank if you're doing nothing but mountain drives. you could get $380 if you're doing all hwy driving below 60mph. What if you did like you said: take your mpg by 32 gallons based off of what the manufact posts on the window sticker. now go take your truck into tha back country or desert or BFE with your window sticker mpg. You may not have enough fuel to make your next fuel drop or fill station. Go run Baja or way the hell up in Alaska without enough fuel and see what happens. "But I took 32 gallons X mpg." you can only carry so much extra fuel with you. That's as much information as I can share at this point. I'm under contract and cannot share any more information. If you wish to add to this thread, great, if not, thanks anyhow. |

Everything you just mentioned is used to determine, which is the basis for my statement. I average 9.5 mpg; 9.5 x 32 = 304 miles to the tank, so there's my contribution to your thread, as useless as it is. :fdance: |

Aren't you on 37's?/ 38's? I can't keep track. BTW- don;t run your truck dry!!!!!! You'll fry your PCM/ BCM (it's one of the two). i know a couple people on here have done that.:twak: btw- 9.5? sheot! I'm at 5000ft or more and get 11 to 12 and I drive the hell out of this thing. Thanks for the input though. |

Yeah, 37x13.5x18 Toyo M/Ts with 18x10 Weld wheels, and I'm pretty heavy on the pedal. There's some light towing (dirbtikes on trailer) involved, as well. I always thought that running dry was bad for the fuel pump, which is why I never let it get much past 1/4 tank before refueling. Thanks, Pete |
Re: How many miles per tank?
when I filled up the other day it said I had 361 miles to empty...I short trip the thing to death. I only have 24,700 miles in over 3 years of driving everyday.

Re: How many miles per tank?
this may sound crazy, but I can get about 375 off of a tank. Driving between Stuart, FL, and Sarasota, FL. Or Sarasota, and Boca Raton, FL. I average about 65 mph, get about 13 or so mpg. I've never got down to the low fuel light level. My truck is one hundred percent stock, and I run 89 octane regular unleaded. When I'm at home for vacations and all, my driving becomes mainly city, so I get around 12.4 mpg, and I definitely have to fill up more often.

Re: How many miles per tank?
when i ran stock 35's id get 400-420 per tank, with the 37's i get 330-360 per tank. (at least thats what the puter says when i fill up.)

Re: How many miles per tank?
I have 37", FabTech tie rods and stabilizers, Rubber Duck ucp, Rancho 9000's. My latest mods helped me achieve almost 750 miles per tank!
