Hummer wave
I'm sure this has been posted already but am I the only one that waves or acknowledges other H2's. I can't tell you how many times I've waved and watched the other driver go by completely oblivious that another H2 was even on the road. I'm not sure what the problem is but I will continue to wave as long as I own it.
|
Re: Hummer wave
I have the same experience but I will continue to flash lights or wave!
|
Re: Hummer wave
I ALWAYS do the Hummer wave to another Hummer. Guys in the H2 are good about returning the wave, but women and H3 owners rarely wave back.
|
Re: Hummer wave
It's the girls that screw it up! Ladies, we need you on board- especially when you see a real man driving down the road that takes the time to acknowledge you.
There are always the rich snooty guys that buy the Hummers just because they have money to waste and they just use it as part of their other 20 cars. They don't seem to appreciate the league they are part of either... |
Re: Hummer wave
8 year old repost! :giggling: ;)
http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=5906 I asked that same question when I piced up my Rig. Eight years later driving in NJ, NY, NV and passing through lots of other States I can say that there were very few HUMMER waves. Prior to getting the H2 I had a 4 Corvettes and a Porsche 911 and always got waves from other owners. I'm not sure what happened with HUMMERS but like DRTYFN said: Quote:

Re: Hummer wave
yeah I tried to wave to a fellow h2 driver on the high way, I got next to him and tried to wave, he just ignored me and sped off.
But, atleast I tried! Won't stop me from waving to another hummer owner. I did see an h3 driver at a red light, he had his window down and his music blasting, i yelled to him that i liked his h3, and he thanked me |
Re: Hummer wave
I wave to H2's regularly, with mixed results, probably 50/50. I don't wave at H3's, but if they wave I will wave back. To me, they are not in the same league as H2's, they can wave to their H3 buddies all they want.

Re: Hummer wave
i always do a wave or flas lights at other H2's. i gave up on the H3's. they dont acknowledge me. ever since i got my hummer and started waving to other H2's my wife thought i was crazy. i told her i cant tell her why i do it, because its part of the SSUHC...Secret Society Of Underground Hummer Club lol

Re: Hummer wave
The wave is not near as prominent as I find in the Corvette community.
|
Re: Hummer wave
yeah my dad has a vette and he is almost as obsessed with waving to other vettes as harley guys are to other harleys.
|
Re: Hummer wave
I believe the lack of a wave has more to do with other Hummer drivers not being able to see the wave than it has to do with their lack of camaraderie. It is pretty dark inside a Hummer cab. A well intentioned wave is hard to see.
|
Re: Hummer wave
thats why i flash the lights.

Re: Hummer wave
A few days after I bought my truck I got a wave from a guy in another H2 and I thought "Okay...this is going to be like the Harley-thing...cool." Years and several attempts later I've only got about three or four other waves.
I've found that most dudes driving stock H2s seem to be oblivious. Granted the windows are usually tinted, so it's hard to see for sure, but there seems to be zero effort. Most of my waves, nods, compliments have come from dudes driving modded H2s. Too bad there's not more of them around my area... And I don't think most women drivers even 'get' the concept. I say most, and not all. I had one pull up next to me just the other day (in a truck that looked like mine, but stock) and yell in my window "Nice fukin' truck, man!" She got the concept...and a wave. H3 owners...? I don't know what's up with those dudes. I think most of them in my area suffer from the I5 Complex, Hood Handle Envy, or are Marker Light Wannabes. I've never gotten a wave, nod, smile, or anything from those guys. And there's only about three H1s that I know of around my way...I get the thumbs up from the dude in the white M1165 with the lift and the 42s every time. I haven't seen the other two on the road yet...so we'll see. But I agree with gasman: Quote:

Re: Hummer wave
I always try the wave on H1 and H2 owners and occasionally at modded H3's. seems only those who are modded even notice they're on the road with another hummer. I feel like wayyyy more people returned the wave years ago as compared to now.
I also get occasional waves from other modded offroad rigs(Jeeps fj's ect.) which is nice to see every once in a while |
Re: Hummer wave
Personally, I think its starnge! Flashing lights and waving at strangers:giggling: ....and you wonder why they just keep on driving. Not everyone loves this unit as much as some of us here. Its just another vehicle, so you appear strange when you are waving outta control and flashing hi-beads at them.

Re: Hummer wave
This is funny to be reading...the week I bought my H2 I was driving thru a stripmall parking lot when I swore another H2 driver waved at me. I wasnt sure if I saw what I thought I saw, but being from TX, I know we are very friendly and I figured one of two things, either: he waved because I was rockin an H2, or because he was just being friendly because I was a woman?! Either way I found it refreshing to see one stranger being friendly toward another. I must say, I've always wanted Hummer and I absolutely love mine. Proud to finally be part of the fam. Waves to come........

Re: Hummer wave
I don't know what it is with you H2/H3 people. The H1 crowd waves to one and other. :o

Maybe it's just me, but I do not perceive someone flashing their headlights at me as a friendly gesture.

One or two quick flashes: "Your high beams are on." Three + quick flashes: "YOUR HIGH BEAMS ARE ON, A55HOLE!" Heads lights on, then off, then on again: "Cop ahead. Watch out!" If you wanna say "hello"...you gotta wave or nod. |
Re: Hummer wave
Yeah totally agree with the lights flashing, but waving is different. I think waving is pretty harmless
|
Re: Hummer wave
The light flashing is only done when they are across from you. No sense in flashing lights when your behind him or in front of him....... I've probably had more hummers flash at me than wave.

I only flash or get flashed (we're talking about headlights right?) regarding high beams or hidden cops. If I got flashed and had my low beams on I would assume there is a cop ahead, and would get confused after driving a few miles at exactly the speed limit looking for cops and not seeing one. |
Re: Hummer wave
Even if the only car flashing you is a hummer? If i had everyone flashing at me i would assume something is wrong. If its just a hummer i know what it means.

Re: Hummer wave
Are we still talking about flashing lights or flashing other things here... I've gotten a few of the other flashes before too...

Re: Hummer wave
does anyone get flashed by other cars because they think you have your brights on? when i first got my truck, i got flashed by cars all the time because they thought my brights were on. and any cars im behind i got flicked off because they thought i had the brights on. i have HID lights in and now i get flashed at even more than ever.

I get flashed all the time since the truck is lifted and I have HIDs. Never bothered adjusting the headlights down. I always see people in front of me trying to adjust their mirrors or block the light from their eyes. Oh well. |
Re: Hummer wave
I get flashed all the time at night, people think the high beams are on. During the day I would not flash my lights unless I was warning someone ther was a cop ahead. Back to the wave.... I think everyone on here would wave to one another. It's the people that are not part of any forum and dont have any pride in there Hummers that just dont get it.

Re: Hummer wave
I always try to acknowledge my fellow H2 brothers by either flashing the lights when I see them coming the opposite direction or waving if I am heading in the same direction on the road. I never ever, ever never, ever ever, I mean never, cut off my fellow H2 brothers and sisters. I have too much love for them.
I am always on the road traveling back and forth from VA to South Jersey. I am now up to 110,000 miles in 3 years, without an issue. On a different note, I recently decide to start going car shopping to supplement my H2. It was an awful experience. All I kept doing was comparing the vehicles to my H2. I kept saying, why am I so low to the ground, why is everything so close, etc, etc. I have come to the realization that either I will have to get another H2 or buy an armored truck and customize it. I don't think my wife will let me buy an armored vehicle and park it in the garage. |
Re: Hummer wave
dont get rid of it! these motors will last quite a long time. i have a 2001 silverado with the 6.0 in it, and it has 263K on it. still running great. just rock it till it dies.....then replace the motor:D

While the wife and I are walking each morning we wave at another H2 owner that lives in our neighborhood. I don't think she even knows we have an H2, also. :shhh: |
Re: Hummer wave
its always the really "chromed out" hummers that dont wave back in my experience anyway. shoot i saw another hummer in the parking lot the other day and parked right beside it. (it was blacked out) and when i came back out the guy was waiting for me, complemented my ride and i returned the compliment. sat there for a while and talked
