I've been looking online to find a big brake set as I plan on putting larger rims/tires on my upcoming SUT and came across a few different big brake kits. (I have them on my Denali and they helped A TON).

Wilwood - 6piston 16" Front/ 4piston 13" Rear
--$4500

Brembo - 6piston 15" Front/ 4piston 14" Rear
--$8k

StopTech - 8piston 15" Front/ 4piston 15" Rear
--$8495

A better question. Why are Brembo's & StopTech so expensive.

Does anyone have any experience with Wilwood brakes at all?? As long as they are reliable I'm all over it. You can't beat 6 piston with 16" rotors.

KenP 07-18-2005 03:30 PM

Bremo's are probably 8 piston.

Some opinions:

Thanks for the links, interesting info. I know Brembo does make 8 piston calipers but none that I've seen for the H2's.

This site lists 6 piston calipers on the Brembe Gran Turismo kits.

I’m not familiar with wilwoods automotive applications, but they have been building the brake systems for all of Arctic Cats high performance model snowmobiles for at least the last ten years. None of the other snowmobile manufacturers have been able to come up with anything better, including Ski-Doo that uses Brembos on some high end models.

Brembo's are top of line aside from Porsche oe equipment, and Stop Tech's are usually porsche replicas. but as was mentioned before, check the caliper setup(dual, single piston) as well as the warranty on the rotor itself.

You must be a lesbian doctor. You don't know sh!t about HUMMERS. Now your opinion on brakes is in question.

I guess GM didn't really put much work into the design and testing of this glorified GMC Suburban.

ahaha. you must still be really upset that you wasted 60 g's on a hunk of **** Gerneral Motors slush box. Maybe if you call GM and complain about how you got ripped off, they might give you the employee discount. I'll bet that all the MTV genration teenage girls wet themselves when they see you pull on the beach in your shiny H2.

So what do you think about Nike?

HGW 07-23-2005 12:42 AM

Be careful with the Wilwoods---they have GREAT racing brakes but make sure the set for an H2 have the right pads.

If not, they will squeak like a bitch with a stick up its ass until they get hot. And...they never seem to get hot enough on the street. Maybe Wilwood has come out with a street package? but I am not sure.

Take the Brembos over the StopTech. The Brembos are great---do you really need them is the question? I sell brakes so I should push big brakes but how big are your wheels and tires going to be?

gordon 07-23-2005 05:20 AM

the reason your brakes are sweeking is because you forgot to apply brake grease to pads, and break in the calipers properly. you cannot stamp the system out before 500 miles, as the metallurgy of the calipers needs to be broken in to form its base solidity. also anyone who quotes this post is a homosexual dickrider, and needs to visit the spa, or find a girlfriend as ugly as themsleves. release all that built up system admin angst.

HGW 07-23-2005 03:31 PM

My breaks are not sweaking. I do not have Wilwoods for street use.

I also see you did some quick editing. Gave yourself a little raise, did you? And noticed your b-day and location changed overnight, too. Funny little turd. I like your pretend friends.

DRTYFN 07-23-2005 03:50 PM

Your taste in movies, tv, books and people you want to meet mysteriously changed, too. What happened? You pee your panties, or something? Silly little bitch.

DRTYFN 07-23-2005 03:52 PM

And your occupation is now mother/homemaker?
You really must have pissed your pants. LMFAO!!! Bitch. Doesn't change what we already have on you.
Tick tock...

DRTYFN 07-23-2005 03:54 PM

And you went from agnostic to Christian overnight? Funny how comparing a captured screen shot will show differences.

DRTYFN 07-23-2005 03:55 PM

And you got REALLY short overnight. Damn. Now I understand how you went from what you were to a short woman.
