Hummer Security

Besides an alarm, second battery, brake auto lock and a cable around the spare any other thoughts on how to provide "extra" security?
Anyone had success with a kill switch?

Also, any internal devices or glove box locks to place the wheel locks?

I hate to say it, but if they really want it, nothing is going to stop a car theif.

A lock door keeps a honest man away

Or you can try these two types

Carjacking Foiled
An elderly lady did her shopping and, upon return, found four males in her car. She dropped her shopping bags and drew her handgun, proceeding to scream at them at the top of her voice that she knows how to use it and that she will if required: so get out of the car. The four men didn't wait around for a second invitation but got out and ran like mad, whereupon the lady proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and get into the driver's seat.
Small problem: Her key wouldn't fit the ignition. Her car was identical and parked four or five spaces farther down. She loaded her bags into her car and drove to the police station. The sergeant to whom she told the story nearly tore himself in two with laughter and pointed to the other end of the counter, where four pale white males were reporting a carjacking by a mad elderly white woman; no charges were filed.

Ok, they scratched up your paint with the screwdriver, and chipped your door handle, and that did not work. So they just break a window and they are in.

So what did reinforcing the lock actually acomplish? I do not understand....

I have a security film on all my windows. It is alot like a window tint but does not allow the window to shatter or split. I have seen crow bars and hammer taken to it to only have the window break and not let the "bad guy" in. It cost me about 350 to 400 bucks and that was around cost. the manufacturer says it should also stop low cal. bullets. I have felt really safe with it, except when I drive over a bridge in fear of it falling in...... I would not be able to break window and get out. I also have seen Lock boxes designed for the rear cargo area and the center glove box. I will post the site when I find them again.

Not neccesarily, if you make it challenging for them it will take them 15 mintues vs the 2 minutes than it did without all the security precautions.
Hopefully during that extra time, they will get scared off and leave the car or better yet get arrested. Even though most people have insurance for their rides, it is a pain in the ass and unneccesary stress to go through that process of getting reimbursed (and then it wont be 100% in all cases) . Paying $500 for additional security measures is well worth it IMO.

The jimmijammer was exactly what I was looking for, thanks.

I watched a police show that discussed security in many areas. When vehicles came along they stressed that in most cases the first thing is to have something that makes loud noise. Then flashing lights also even better. They talked mostly about something that atracts allot attention fast.

There are plenty of lower cost alarms that will do that. I want so that if they are still brave gives them a shock. I have not seen but, heard there is one approved by UL Labs etc. If anyone knows more please make mention of it.

I would recommend a NRA Bumper Sticker. That way any thief might recognize that a GUN belongs to the Owner of this vehicle! lol

If they would think that deep. They will probably just think lets break in as it has a gun in it to steal....

I am still bitter after mine getting broken into a few years back. Install the ConsoleVault to secure any items. I also installed a Clifford Alarm as the factory is junk. I had the installer install high decible sirens under the dash so if they do decide to take the time to look for the brain it is VERY uncomfortable.

At the end of the day, If they want it they will get it all you can do is try to make them look at another in the parking lot besides yours.

I read a post on here before from a guy from Alaska (I think). He said he just leaves an empty holster on the front seat. That way you know the owner has a gun, and it's not on the car, and probably on him.
