installed CB, now strange motor noise
I installed a cobra 75. I pulled the front console and installed the little electronics box there. I connected power to the rear windshield power switch.
Connected red from CB to the blue wire on the wiper swith and ground to the black wire. Everything works - BUT -, when I key the mic, there is a small whinny motor sound from the engine. IT IS NOT the wiper water pump. It is real quiet, I cannot hear it when the engine is running. IT is a high rpm motor. It is coming from the block, on the exhaust side of the engine. I have a feeling some of you are going to tell me I'm crazy or say its the wiper pump you idiaot! ITS NOT! The hummer idles fine when I key. I have not driven it yet to see what happens. Kind of afraid to. Dan |

rf feedback ? relocate your antenna...........

Re: installed CB, now strange motor noise
No. The noise is not coming from the cb speaker.
The noise is coming from the engine. And there was no noise when I had it hooked up for two weeks using power from the cigarette plug. |
Re: installed CB, now strange motor noise
There is a spare power wire marked acc on the driver side right by the door open light. Its steady 12volts. Connect to that rather than wiper source.

Re: installed CB, now strange motor noise
I thought of that but I did not want a constant source.
I am more curious about what the motor? is. |
Re: installed CB, now strange motor noise
Try a different ground. I suspect your getting a feedback voltage to the washer pump which is energizing the pump, but not with enough voltage to pump the fluid.

Re: installed CB, now strange motor noise
Agreed, I believe you can filter that noise out. And, don't be afraid to drive it.
