SUT Tonneau Cover Install Advice

I have read just about every thread on the Tonneau cover I can find. I ordered one for my SUT. I plan on putting it on myself. I know that a lot of readers here say, "Take it to the Dealer". Well I am going to do it myself contrary to this advice.
I would like to hear from those that have actually installed it themselves and lived to tell about it.
Any install tips or do's or don'ts related to doing the install would be great.
If someone has the actual installation directions they can post, that would be cool too.
I will take some pictures as I do my install and if I am successful, then I will post them.

I've installed mine myself, without any instructions. Since the install, i did get a dealer to send some instructions, and they don't help very much. The instructions are too large to post here, I've tried. Drop me an e-mail and I will send them to you. cgibson199@aol.com

A short version would be to start with the rails, then move on to the cover itself, and finish with the lift struts and tailgate lock. The most difficult part is getting the rails on and located so the cover is square. It may help if you have anyone with one installed to get a few photos for reference points. I did the install without anyone.

I have one that came on my truck when I bought it but I'd love a copy of the directions as well! I'm wondering if it's easy to take off (without removing the side rails) so I can put my midgate down in the summer time. I'll shoot you an email or you can send them to edhaser@gmail.com

I found this in another thread so it seems feasible. I think you would have to be careful not to mess up the rails but should work none the less.

Removal is pretty much that simple. you do only have to remove the three bolts one side, and loosen the the three on the other, but removing all six is the easiest. The six bolts are those on the hinge.

Re: SUT Tonneau Cover Install Advice

I received the Tonneau Cover. Here are scans of the Install Instructions. Will start the install this weekend.
There are 2 parts to them. One is just doing some weather proofing followed by the actual install. The pages are number 1 of 6 and 1 of 18, but there are not that many pages. The instructions are in several languages so there are no missing pages, just some that are not in English.

Do First 1

Do First 2

Install 1

Install 2

Install 3

Install 4

Install 5

Install 6

I don't think it's so much difficulty as it is patience and time -- getting it to fit correctly I think has been the biggest issue. That's the reason why many choose the dealer route.

I know a couple members have been able to do it in an hour or two - but they must be more mechanically inclined than myself!

Let us know how it goes.
