Hi Folks,
I'm thinking of leasing an H2. It's a 2003 with about 50k miles on it. Couple questions...
1. Would it be safe to say that the gas consumption would be about double of a car such as a Mazda 3? Haven't actually checked the gas consumption numbers yet.
2. Are repairs extremely expensive?
3. Is regular maintenance expensive?
I already checked and insurance isn't an issue. Actually it's cheaper than my current vehicle which is over 10 years old.. lol..funny how these insurance companies work..
Thx.

Are you kidding? Why not lease a new H2?

To lease a new H2, I would pressume the price would be significantly higher wouldn't it?

Leasing an '03 will have a lower residual value and a higher interest rate, not to mention the limited warranty. I agree with DRTY, a new H2 would probably be a better decision. Good luck.

Although the residual value is higher on a NEW H2, the monthly lease would be higher because of the higher vehicle price. Would this not be right?

Really depends on the lease deals going on and the price of the vehicle. I leased a 2 year old SUV with 15K miles on it about 10 years ago and there were far more benefits in leasing the used one rather than a new one in that case. On that vehicle they figured since it was two years old that it should have 10K miles on it so I got an extra 15K in mileage for the lease as well as they automatically went to 15K/year for no extra money. The warranty was also extended for the term of the lease at no extra cost. Just a couple of the benefits on that deal but they may or may not be the same with an H2. You could also look at a new H3.

ya was looking at the H3. Not too crazy about it and read some pretty bad reviews of it from Consumer Reports magazine. (not enough power, big blind spots, etc).
But ultimately it comes to the look as well and I'm not crazy on how it looks. (wouldn't mind seeing the H4 when it comes out). H2 looks so aggressive! If I go on the gm site and price out a new H2 for lease, it comes out to double the price of a used 2003 H3. I see one H3 for sale for about $32k USD. Still has a warranty. I'm not too concerned about GAS because I know already that it comes with the territory.

Don't believe anything you read in there as far as the H3 is concerned. Bet they were even harder on the H2. Sounds like the used H2 may be your best bet. It all comes down to personal preference. I think the H3 looks as aggressive as the H2 just not as big, but that is me. I almost went with an H2 myself but the H3 fits my daily life better. If you get a used one I would also check into getting an extended warranty. Definitely don't want to be paying for major repair especially on a lease vehicle.

1) I've had times I averaged 7.5 MPG. Think about spending 50 cents a mile on gas alone... if this doesn't bother you... cool!
2) What repairs? I replaced a window which cost about $350... but that's about all I've had to pay for outside warranty...
3) Jiffy lube every 3000 miles. About $35. Sames price as my mini van.
Get the truck! You'll love it. If the cost of gas bothers you... get a used one. The savings will offset the cost of the gas...
The Hidden Cost of owning a Hummer it is in the $25,000 worth of aftermarket goodies that even of the most miserly of us eventually justify buying.
Fortunately, I've avoided this trap...
Look forward to reading your "I got my truck!" post soon.

Ok I double checked and I'm not too sure if it does come with a warranty actually. 50k miles on it. I'll have to call and find out.
Should I still go for it if there is no warranty?

I wouldnt lease a used vehicle. If your really crunch the numbers the used one will you cost you much more than its really worth. Just buy it!
I would only lease new. And even then, make sure you crunch the numbers, dont just look at the bottom line! There is more money for GM in a lease than any other means of financing!
