Default Windshield washers clogged

I had my driver's side windshield washer stop working last week. I called the dealer and they told me to brush the sprayer ports with soap and water. Despite my doubts, the technique worked like a charm. I guess dirt can build up and clog the ports (I run Prestone de-icer fluid in the reservoir so I knew that ice was not the issue). After brushing the ports, I sprayed lock lube/de-icer in them from the top side for good measure. I also now carry an old toothbrush in the truck as standard gear for on-the-road port scrubbing as needed.

Now only if that tech also knew how to get the rear wiper to clean more than just half of the window

I just wish I could get my wipers to clean the windshield when it is snowing or if the roads have a lot of ice melt from the snow. The snow just builds up and starts to freeze to the wipers.

I have had it get so bad I have had to pull off to the side of the road.

Is there anyone else with this problem or maybe having a cure for the problem other than moving South for the Winter?

Interesting - my wipers operate very poorly in certain winter conditions as well. And if I spray washer fluid onto the windshield, even de-icer fluid, it simply makes matters worse. Design flaw? Window? Wipers? It seems that there must be a signifiant amount of grime or snow on the windshield for the wipers to work properly - otherwise, the entire center portion of each side of the windshield is missed by the wiper.

Mine work fine. Maybe you should replace em?

Nah - they did it right off the bat when I bought them. I think they are the Bosch recommended versions.
