SWPA Snowboarder is off the scale
Default

Hi, I mentioned that Im thinking of getting an H3, specifically because of its ability in the snow. I was going to look at a base package with the auto tranny, but after looking at the Hummer website, Im thinking I need the Adventure Package for the rear differential. And this would only be about a grand more. Can any one chime in whether this sounds right?
THANKS

With better/bigger tires and a rear locker, its well worth the additional $$$.

Wouldn't have it any other way. Cheap traction.

All that, and, in my opinion it looks alot better. I got it strictly for the look of the bigger tires, and now after taking it offroad it was worth the money no question. I'm looking forward to some snow.

SWPA,

Here's my 2 cents... I was thinking the same way before I bought mine last week. Now depending if you feel like you are really going to be doing some off roading and you dont mind the 32" tires, then save yourself the extra money and either use it for other accessories or put it in your pocket.

If you plan off roading then the answer is clear. ADVENTURE PACKAGE. If you just like the look of the larger tires (Like I did) then you still may want to consider the Adventure Package because by the time you go out and replace the standard 32" tires with bigger ones, you will be close to the price it would cost you to get the Adventure Package anyway. Plus you will the better off road capability just in case.

And no matter what, always and I mean always work on the salesperson for a discount. I was able to get them to come down close to 3K off MSRP...

Happy Hummer Hunting...

When I bought mine the dealer had the larger (33's) in the back from another hummer that upgraded to more bling. I bought all 5 for 350$, had them mount them and re cal my speedometer. I didnt get the adv. package but I got the tires I wanted. This might be a option for you if they have some laying around.

You also get the granny low gear tranfer case and 4 carpeted mats.Better shocks and the 33 inch duelers with reinforced sidewalls and the rear locker as mentioned above.Worth the$1000 + for it and at resale(If you ever sell it )It will be more desirable.I would add a sunroof to your list.also you get another rear compartment on the left side (If you get the monsoon radio you sacrafice the extra compartment.)

IMHO the Adventure Package and Sunroof are the two best options on the H3. Then I would say the Monsoon radio, third. These are all items that would be VERY EXPENSIVE to add afterwards on your own.

No doubt, spend the money up front. Any upgrades will most likely hit the pocketbook a lot harder later on.

Did not get the Adv Package as the Off-road Guru at Sewell knew that I was a novice and I knew that I was a novice and he has had a couple of Hummer Outings with the H2's and H3's where all H3's were base pkg and he thought they were adequate. The sun-roof is great, though. Will eventually get bigger tires. Again, if I happen to get to CO and UT a few times in the next couple of years then will probably move up to an H3 with Adv Pkg then.
