Default Ford Raptor

I just saw a post of someone looking at an alternative to the H2. I saw the Ford Raptor mentioned so I said hey what is this thing. So here is what really chaps my ass... How is it that ford makes something that has 35" tires on it with what appears to be a great suspension and will drink gas but GM cannot keep the Hummer brand alive? I know it has a lot of overhang but wait and see, the Raptors will be all over the road. If you don't think Obama and the greenies shut down Hummer, they you need to have your head checked. H2s would still be selling today. Hell, the Raptor does not even have 4 doors. Once they fogure out they can sell this thing in an SUV format, Ford will be making money hand over fist. I bet there are plans for a diesel too. As much as it hurts me to say it, GM got what they deserved when they got in bed with with the feds.

but the fact that ford didnt need to take any goverement money for bailout, and also the fact that ford is the only car company actually making money..... im sure they can do what they want right now.

as for hummer staying alive.... just look at the numbers.
when a car company is only selling 11k cars a year, its pretty obvious that it is circling the drain. if anything, the goverment only sped up the death of Hummer by maybe a year or 2, but it was still dying.

i would be somewhat interested in a Ford hummer type vehicle if they ever build something like it... when they can push 300Hp from a V6, ya im impressed.

Is this on the market or only a show truck?
I'd buy one when my H2 gets a little long in the tooth

I like the Ford Raptor, If the H2 had to go, Id definetly be looking at a raptor. The interior is vey nice, refined, as well.

I dig the Raptor. However I would take the H2 over it anyday on the trail. But If I lived out west.....That raptor would be a blast in the desert!

I rode in a Raptor with one of my friends that always has to have the latest and the best last month. They are very stiffly sprung, wider than an H2, and the ride is nothing like an H2. I also read where Ford gave some to the Alaskan Hiighway Dept. for "extreme conditions durability testing." If you watch Ice Road Truckers on the History Channel, you would have seen one of the Alaskan Raptors Sunday on the program. Good advertising too!

How was the interior? Comfort and space? Visibility?

The interior is very nice and VERY wide on the Raptor. Looking at the dimensions online, it's wider than an H1. I only rode about 5 miles in it, but the ride was MUCH stiffer than my H2. It was also very quiet inside, but of course it was new.

No one will ever bust balls about MPG and it not being "green" because its a pickup. SUV's get the brunt of it since they are easily picked up by the soccer mom crowd. I dont see soccer moms driving raptors (Although that would be kinda Hot...-)

I like the raptors a lot, but I don't see them as a replacement for my H2s.
