Re: H3 sales down 43%
Hummer sales have been down for a while now, thats why I went and got me a new 08 H3 a few weeks ago to replace the 06 H3 I sold last year.
When I purchased my 08 H3 the dealership was very very nice to me and gave me a killer deal.
Now, is a great time to buy a Hummer,,,,, in my opinion, the Hummer dealer are doing anything they can to make a sale.
Cheers

That's a very smart move.. Now is the time to buy during the gas freak out time. Dealers I'm guessing would be very happpy to move inventory.
How much of a killer deal did you get. A "GMID" deal is good.. And Employee deal is even better..So where did your fall..??

Re: H3 sales down 43%
It doesn't really get any better than GMID or GMS pricing.

What made it such a killer deal was I was upside down on my Tacoma trade-in, they used the rebates and incentives to eat up almost all the Toyota upside down'ness then got me a 6% interest rate on the H3 loan, I was paying a much much higher interest on the Tacoma, with the lower interest rate I got a much lower payment than I had with the Toyota and I owe less on the H3 loan than I did on the 07 Tacoma.
As far as the price for my 08 H3 I forget the exact price (I would have to go look it up) but it was under MSRP.
Yea, gas prices being what they are can make for a real good deal on a Hummer right now.
Cheers

Re: H3 sales down 43%
The wife wants zero % interest...just like GM offered with my H3. When they offer zero % we'll pull the trigger.

Re: H3 sales down 43%
....but if GM had some foresight and offered a nice turbo CRD oil burner on the H3, their sales might have gone up.
I drove by a Car Max over the weekend. It was an ocean full of full size SUV's and trucks. A guy here at work told me that he was told that Car Max wasn't accepting full size SUV's any longer.

Re: H3 sales down 43%
I think that in order to bump up sales these days, GM could try to focus on current H3 owners and enthusiasts (those who already purchased Hummers would more likely be interested in buying again because they know the quality they're getting and who don't care too much about MPG) and introduce those features that many existing H3 users would like to have (and that were not present in the '06-'07 vehicles) in order to give us some motivation to trade in for new models, losing thousands of dollars on early trade-ins, but at least getting something worth in exchange; base V-8 equipped models (maybe even with manual transmission) with no bling, dual lockers option, straight stance and clearance to fit 35's without any mods out of the factory, stuff like that. Maybe an "action model" that would be off-road loaded including the winch etc... I lately see so many new, good (understand mean) looking, and undoubtedly very capable off-road fitted Wranglers around my town, but only very few off-road Hummers - and those are always only H2's, never an H3; haven't see a single one yet.
Since my truck operates flawlessly on and off-road, there is no real reason for me to trade-in, and so I'm waiting for the "right" model to come out, to give me good enough reason to spend $$$.. I have my H3 little over a year - I would trade-in (and therefore let GM make money again), but only if there would be enough cool new stuff to get me interested...

Re: H3 sales down 43%
I hear what you're saying...but, if you trade the 3 in, doesn't the dealer still have the same problem of trying to sell something that's not so fuel efficient and now -- used.

well, that is what the dealer would have to "deal" with, it's not GM problem what to do with used vehicle; GM will get their money because the new truck sale...so sales would go up. Right? Maybe I misunderstood but I thought that the 43% drop was in sales of factory new vehicles.

Right, so the dealer sells vehicles for GM, in a mutual kind of relationship.
So why would GM cater to the people already owning Hummers if places like Car Max won't take an SUV trade any longer?
I just think GM should be offering better financing incentives if they really want to move vehicles. Not so I'll trade one in, but to find people that want to get into one. Maybe there's more to the dynamics of producing and selling Hummers behind GM than we all realize or know.

Re: H3 sales down 43%
CarMax will take the vehicles, just not at the price that any customer wants -- that's because while the prices have been dropping on larger SUVs in the last few months, CarMax's inventory costs have remained the same -- now they own it for more than the market will purchase for.
If you took a 2008 H2 in and said, "give me 10 grand and its yours," they'd take it.
The same is only partly true on new Hummers -- since incentives can fluctuate with the market, even though dealer costs do not.

So if GM is so far down in sales, why don't they offer incentives now or yesterday to move product? Doesn't that make sense?

Re: H3 sales down 43%
I've been looking for a new vehicle and I've been to so many dealers and looked at so many vehicles that I can tell you, without exception, that no one wants your Hummer but you.It is a shame, but that's how the market is.There are dealers, previously mentioned, that won't even take any suv in trade...no one will buy it from them.
