Hooked to my new boat :)
Pulls her like a dream. The air leveling suspension is a very nice feature. And though it's not the longest wheel base the back end does not get pulled around at all. It's a 30 footer but the whole set up probably only weighs 6500-7000 (lightweight boat). I must say though, one thing I'm very dissapointed about is it's tendancy to run hot, forcing me to turn the air off. My wife is not too happy going through inland CA in the heat of the day with the air off. Actually unhappy is an understatement. She told me I should have just bought another Ford to do the towing. Is there any simple way to cut down on that so I can still use the air? I just can't imagine getting another truck to haul stuff around with. I've come to love my hummer waaaay toooooo much
PS I'm not doing more than 70 or so.

Re: Hooked to my new boat :)
I had a similar problem towing with my '06 SUT. It turns out the transmission lines running through the radiator were heating everything up. $390 later with a new external transmission cooler and one afternoon of cussing to get it in and it runs cool even in 90 plus weather towing 8000#.

Re: Hooked to my new boat :)
Truck is an 08
Overheating...... Engine temp guage steadily rising past 3/4
No performance mods...
Boat is a Force....a smaller company based out of riverside Ca. Eliminator actually does the lay up. Boat's rigging is impeccable.
Hummerman: I may end up pming you to get more info from you. I'm 2000 miles from my hummer right now so i can't check it out. I'll look when I'm back around it in a few weeks

Re: Hooked to my new boat :)
Luv my stang. I will be buried in that thing. It's the first car I purchased myself in high school. Very sentimental. Lot's firsts with lots of people in that thing ahhhh memories. In fact my wife is always bribing me with an exotic or something to get rid of what she calls a "loud POS" ....
It's nothing too special, but it's done just the way I want it.
2000, auto, 60k, bunch of tranny stuff done. Bunch of suspension and handling bits. Alot removed to keep weight down. Kept it naturally aspirated...Makes close to 360 at the rear wheels. Quick and very fun to drive.
post up a pic of yours too!!!

Re: Hooked to my new boat :)
Very nice man!!! Looks very clean! Congrats, i've always liked white stangs.
This is my fifth Mustang and the best one yet, I bought it with 000.003 miles on it from FL, they only made 18 of these in 2005, Black w/Silver stripes, Premium Roush Package, Stage 1, 5speed. 1/18, its Badge#05-1058 and signed by Jack Roush himself on both the dash and engine itself.
I've done lots of mods to it that I can't even count, I need to get updated Pictures, i've done a lot of things since this pics where taken including brakes, more suspension upgrades, smoked tail-lights and all HID lights.... which... don't really show in the pics lol
Here you go, enjoy:
Mods: Procharger Stage II #10lbs w/3-core intercooler S/C, SCT Tuner, O/R H-pipe, FlowMasters 40 Series, LT Headers, Pro-kit Eibach Springs, Ford Racing Struts, 3.90 Pro5.0 Gears, Gianelle Spezia5s 20" Wheels with Proxy 4s. and lots and lots of more crap...560HP.
more pics.....

Re: Hooked to my new boat :)
I had experienced the same problem towing my 31ft Gulf Craft until I added the tranny cooler. But towing above 50 with something that large is not my cup of tea. Nice Boat although I am not a mono hull person.

Re: Hooked to my new boat :)
That's a very nice stang. The wheels make the car. I like it when you can see alot of caliper and disc in between the wheels. I bet it looks hot when you're going. I'd love to grab another newer stang to modify but I just don't have the space
So i guess I'll be looking at a tranny cooler. Any particulair one you guys went with...how much capacity?

Re: Hooked to my new boat :)
The Tru-Cool part #4739 works great, I tow heavy loads and have not had trans temps go over 190 with this cooler and it averages around 165. The engine temp also stays around 210 as well.
Here is a thread describing why I changed mine.

Re: Hooked to my new boat :)
Is your guage showing hot or is the PCM showing hot? I'd double check against the PCM to see what it actually reads. Many of my GM vehicles have shows 210 degrees and were really running 190 to 195. I'd also check my water pump and flush the system and install a new t stat. if that doesn't work, something is in the radiator. no way you should be running that hot with 7K behind it. I've had friends pulling 10K 28x8.5 car haulers in the FL heat without issues at 80 MPH.
Also, what is your fan clutch doing? Can you feel or hear the fan roaring (like a semi fan engaged?)
Post up and we'll trouble shoot from here.
