Hankook Tires?
I'm in the market for new tires and have been reading up on this forum. My choices were down to BF Goodrich (TA/KO) or Nitto (Terra Grapplers) but then I saw Hankook M/T's last night at an independent tire dealer.
Has anyone tried these? I'm curious about road noise and wear. They didn't seem to have any siping at all either.
I'm surprised there aren't more options for H2 tires running stock wheels and height. The Hankooks are cheap which really doesn't matter, I'd rather not save a buck on something so important, still if the Hankooks are excellent than I'd like to give them a try.

Re: Hankook Tires?
Hankooks are horrible ! I sell rims and tires and the warehouses that carry Hankook do not want to sell them to any dealers. They have too many returns and unhappy customers.

Any pics on the Hankooks there Lucky1? I'll be ready for some new tires soon. Looking for a possible switch from the BFG M/Ts.

Re: Hankook Tires?
That's the one with the diamonds on the sidewall. Looking at the company profile I suspect manufacturing is done in Korea since there is no mention of stateside manufacturing facilities but "R&D" in Korea.
The rubber compound on the tires on display looked like dark graphite instead of pure black and the tread blocks were drilled for studs (per the salesman).
I've seen some very low prices- like $150 to $170 each for 315/70/R17 online for these.

They look pretty mean. At that price, it would be worth a try.

Ya, Cooper STT, good tire, not much road noise.

Re: Hankook Tires?
Just to close out this thread- I ended up buying the Toyo Open Country M/Ts. After reading all the positive post here about them and liking the look of them over the BFG TA/KO's it was a simple choice.
My local dealer is just down the road from home and accepted a good used pair of TA/KO's in trade for mounting, balancing, and lifetime road hazard putting my per tire price at $285.00 for 35/12.5/17.

Re: Hankook Tires?
I'll see about posting some this weekend, right now it's too dark by the time I leave the office and the H2 is hella-dirty and not in a good way either.
Instead of the acceptable off road muck, it's covered in the nasty haze of road salt and slime after our storm two days ago.
I can say this much, I'm impressed how quiet they are on the highway. It's only the first day but they are at least as quiet as the stock BF Goodrich TA/KO's at 70 mph. I have noticed at very low speeds (less than 15 mph) you can feel and hear the lugs but it was also 14 degrees this morning and they're aired up to 60 psi from the dealer.

i love the hankooks
i run the m/t on my Z71 and have never had a problem w/ them
i also run their 19.5 on our wreckers and have never had a problem with any of the 3 wreckers that have them..
they do require more air psi than most and the fact that most people dont read the sidewall of the tire and run less air in them gives them the squishy feelin might be the reason why they are having the returns and unhappy customers
i have ran them for over 3 years now on my personal trucks and cars and
on our wreckers and i would say they are good tires

You are either getting Toyo MTs or TRXUS MTs.

Re: Hankook Tires?
Go with Toyo M/T's. You'll be very happy with them.
