Newbie with general questions
Hey there, I had posted on another forum about snow tires/studs for an H2 and got some answers, but this one seems a much more active forum.
Really I just will be buying this truck to help with my snowboarding addiction and it will pretty much only see snow/highway trips to the mountain, I got my tire quetions answered already, now just wondering about used purchases.
I'm wondering what the issues with buying a used one wtih higher miles, say 50-70k on it. I can't justify spending money on a newer one for my use. Do they wear out really fast? It seems to me that GM V8's pretty much last forever, but what about the rest of it? I don't see many posts about older rigs while searching the forums a bit, other than to stay away from 03's.
Any advice appreciated.

Re: Newbie with general questions
First of all 50k miles is not a lot, maybe back in the old times when vehicles didn't last 100k. Second, I have an 03 with 50k miles and it runs like a top and has had no problems except a leaky power steering hose. So if you find an 03 cheap with 50-70k miles do it!

Re: Newbie with general questions
Thanks for the info, perhaps I should look more at 03's, There was one locally advertised at 27 thousand and I think it had around 70k on it. Pretty much loaded that I can see. Seems like they would take just about anything for it since gas is so high in Oregon.
I'm no stranger to putting high miles on cars, I have over 100k on my E39 M5 to date and its actually putting out more on the dyno now than it did 50k ago. I just don't have any experience with Hummers to go off of and owners are always the best people to ask!

Re: Newbie with general questions
I have an early '03 and have had very few issues with it. If I were you I would not count them out either.

Add my name to the 03 owners club
Mine has around 65K on it and runs perfectly, it's all in how you drive and care for them.

Re: Newbie with general questions
I have an 07/02 '03 model with about 35K miles on it I'll sell you.
PM DRTYFN here, he can help you out with the tires and with finding a good H2. He's extremely knowledgable and has owned one from the inception. He's also from the Portland area.

NICE! Ok, feeling much better now, thanks a ton guys.
It will be two months before I pick up the rig, gotta get tenants in a few rentals first, but thanks for the offer on the rig PARAGON.
This seems to be an awesome forum, I'm glad I found it, reminds me of the M5 community a lot.

Paragon's rig is in tip top shape. I don't think it's ever been off road.
I have an early model 03 and I'll sell it to you for $65K CAN.
