Here is a snip from the Motortrend article that narrates the photo:
"We stepped out onto the dunes with the goal of testing the H2s sand-clawing prowess and to snap a few quick pictures of the Hummer having fun. However, the wind was blowing strong and a good sandblasting was the last thing any of us wanted, so we moved with speed. After some hill-climb testing, Steve Daxer was asked to perform a mild jump off one of the dunes for photo purposes -- a challenge he quickly accepted. As the nearly 6700-pound H2 approached the lip of a sizable dune, I knew something memorable was about to happen. Somehow my "not too much speed" request was overlooked, and consequently, the copper H2 sailed off the dune with unbelievable height. We all waited to see exactly how many pieces would explode off the H2 upon landing, but amazingly, the big rig sucked up the crash-down with amazing ability. Steve asked if he should do another jump (for photo purposes, of course) but I figured it was best that we leave while everything remained attached and still functioning."

Why do you think it's fake?
Just because it's a cool pic doesn't automaticly mean it's been Photochopped.
Looks real enough to me. If you look close, you can even see the tire tracks in the sand at the crest of the hill.

My first thought was it must be Photoshop, but I opened the file and zoomed WAY in and it looks pretty good. Even the windows in the wheels agree with the background. The suspension is certainly unloaded. The only thought I had was that dark, straight object in the back glass reflection. It looks like they might have built a ramp. It looks real to me - great pic.

I think its fake because look at the tires the tread looks like it is computerized looks like it was on the ground and the computerized the tread because there was weight on it so it would have made it look flatthats why

Check out the wheel travel on the jumping hummer...Easily twice that of the Hummer just setting there. Jumping Hummers tires are spinning, and not flat whatsoever...
I am a publisher by profesion, and have used Photoshop on a daily basis since version 1.0 (Feb 1990) I've also edited, enhanced and touched up thousands of photos, and this one has no telling signs of tampering. How long have you been a Photo enhancement expert?

There is no sand in the air except tiny bits at take off point. some sand or lots of sand should be flying near the tires and the Hummer.
There is no deep impression in the sand at the take off point. 3 tons on sand goes down deep.
The tire treads look a little like it is spinning, but that is not in consistence with the wheels.
The Hummer looks too clean, by the time it gets airborn, it would have been running in the sand for quite some time, the tires are clean all over. The wheel wells, the underbody, the bars, the suspension are all clean. Especially the under side of the rear bumper, you know what I mean if you look at your rear bumper.
Where is the driver? a tiny dude with tiny head?
Nice picture nevertheless.

Yeah, either it was faked by a very talented individual, or piloted by a very crazy one... Either way, it's a great photo...
