H2 Stereo Installation
I am so ridiculously stressed out right now over this whole thing I'm trying to do. I've been redoing the interior of my h2 for the past few weeks, and I decided its time for a new stereo in my dash. I decided I want a single din radio with a screen that comes out and flips up.
This is where the trouble starts, the space is a double din so I dont know what I would put in the other space?
I've done a lot of research online but I dont know exactly what wiring harnesses I need?
Has anyone installed a single din flip up screen successfully?
Thanks I need to get this done so i can put my car back together!
I'm a beginner at car mods, which i understand is probably not the best thing to start on an H2. If any one can guide me step by step through this process I'll give you any item you want from PyleAudio.com. I work for the company, and get a big discount and I'll pick up the rest of it so you get it for free. (I'm very stressed on getting this done) THank you everyone.

Re: H2 Stereo Installation
I have and I would suggest other wise. The Flip out motorization is just more to go wrong. I have had many a systems, worked with some of the best in the industry and had nationally accredited vehicle. AKA The hummer I am in now. I first tried a flip out as well but the upper exhaust vents will blow warm and cold air on them which could effect screen quality. However the biggest problem witht he flip out motorization screens is even if the screen is mounted in the lower section of the double din the 6.5 to 7.5 inch screen will hit or contact the nipples on the breast looking exhaust vents. The only solution to this is to either lower the screen by moving the onstar, or ac controlls wich is not a great idea. the other solution is to bring the physical radio out more and therefore it leaves an unfinished look and big din hanging out. Unless you already have the single din motorized screen or are getting it for free or re-using from old system I would recommend a double din head unit with a screen. Also if you have to use a single din head unit they do make double to single din conversions. You probably have seen them already and didnt know it. It is usually a black plastic piece the size of a doulbe din but has a pocket/cubbie hole/compartment style slot that can either be mounted on the upper side or lower side of the single din.
Hope this helps

Re: H2 Stereo Installation
stay with a double din touch screen type less work and looks just as good. Crutchfield's site is a good place to start.

Re: H2 Stereo Installation
Bought a Single Din Plye motorized flip up monitor Head Unit for 50$. Works absolutely fantastic does not hit the nipples of the fan heads like everyone seems to be suggesting. Left room for my 6 CD Changer and night vision screen after moving the A/C Controller to the Center console. Thanks eveyrone

Re: H2 Stereo Installation
I would not advise the single, too many problems down the road may occur.
I've got the Kenwood DX5120 w/ipod and backup camera and love it 100%. check out the pics:

Re: H2 Stereo Installation
I have the Jensen VM9512 Installed in mine. I have been installing stereos for a very long time and I did notice the screen would hit the a/c vents with the single din kit. I flipped the install kit and lowered the single din down and problem solved. It is great considering the screen tilts sideways left or right for better viewing. I rarely pull the screen in so mine is always out. you can adjust the settings to do so that way you can manually pull the screen in our out by one button touch rather than when you start or stop the car. I would reccomend a double din for the novice installer. But if you want a single din then by all means have your cake and eat it! There are some nice double dins out there now on the market keep looking.
