Default Serp. belt squeeling.

My belt has been squeeling over the past month. I have 30K on the SUT. Seems a bit premature for a new belt. is this normal. I put some belt spray on there today to try and stop the annoying squeel......holy shyt!! It made it much worse.

Are you sure it's not the idler pulley? About twice a year, I spray the idler pulley with lubricant.

Or the belt tensioner. I have replaced my tensioner 2 times already and might need to do it again but I have 138,000miles

I was thinking it might be a pully or something like that. I'll give it to my mechanic this week.

Yeah the spray sucks. Just replace the belt. Check the thension pulley to make sure it is not stuck. I burned one off my z71. It luckily held the belt and limped to the auto parts store.

When mine starts squealing, I just poor some water on the belt while it's running, if it stops squealing, then I know it's most likely the belt and it needs to be replaced.... The spray doesn't do crap for it...

If the belt does not have cracks in it yet, try turning it around so it rotates the other direction. This has fixed the squeak for me several times over. The belt is pricey and so this is the best option if the belt is still in good condition.

Change the belt... and by changing, I mean brands....

Been there, done that.

Got it fixed yesterday. All the pulleys were fine, just needed a new belt. Mechanic said the original belt was a bit dry and showed some minor micro cracks. No more squeel.
