Okay, I got this weird e-mail on the car today. What do you think? Very odd to say the least.
Comments: beautiful 95, i would love to have the car. I have Financing all ready to go, with one problem. I have to buy from a dealer, meaning anyone with a liscense to sell cars. so, if you know anyone that can sell your car to me i can right "them" the check.
What do you think the angle is?

Sales Tax.
In Missouri you can purchase/sell a vehicle from a private seller and get a sales tax credit towards a new vehicle. In Kansas you can only buy from a Dealer to get a sales tax credit for selling your vehicle. I'm guessing he has a sales tax credit from a vehicle he has sold and needs a Bill of Sale for your vehicle from the dealer to avoid paying the full amount. Starting in Kansas in 2005, the state will tax you at price paid or appraised value of the vehicle...which ever is higher. This is to combat selling a vehicle for a $1.00.
That's my guess anyway.

certain financing outlets will provide better rates for people who purchase from a dealer, and often it is even a 1 or 2 point difference.

Why? You're not a troll and I happen to like both of those cars. That M3 is one of my favorites, and the RUF(if it's a real RUF) is a rocket. A friend of mine used to own the very first RUF to enter the U.S.- the Jacuzzi car.
The emailer might think you're hot and is trying to break the ice for a little unnatural backdoor action with you. EEEYYUUU!!! Creepy.

I've heard of dealers up here in Washington brokering a deal for $300 - $500. It isn't a bad deal if he pays for the extra fee and it gives him some insurance that the car is real and the buyer is not being taken in the event that he is out of state or far away.
If he wants that he'll pay for it.
Good luck on the sale.

KBB on this is a book value of just over $10K Have you tried selling it on E-bay? I'm looking for an M3 currently but wanted a new style 2002 or newer.
It looks in real nice shape Are you willing to go as low as $10K? If so I may be interested to trun it into a track car project.

He came out today to look at the car. He said his bank would only finance a car of this age if it was purchased through a dealer. He is now going to go looking for a dealer that will do the transaction. I mentioned the fact that there would be a fee associated with the sale. He was pretty naive and thought a dealer would do it for free. Well see what he comes up with.
