Ok guys, this is a very dumb question, but where is the jack tool kit? I have a 2005 H2 with the factory outside Spare Tire Carrier. The manual has a diagram of the inside mounted spare tire so based on this the illustration shows the jack and on the side of it a second wing nut which is supposed to hold the jack tool kit.

Well the 05 does not have this wing nut, so where is the tool kit?

Does anyone know? Thanks for your help...

I wish I could help you. The SUT has it's own spot. Have you checked you owners manual? I looked at the 2005 PDF but only found the SUT's info.

No idea if this is what you have seen already...

The following steps will tell you how to use the jack and
change a tire.
Removing the Spare Tire and Tools
The equipment you’ll need is behind and to the side of
the driver’s side second row seat. To remove the
equipment, do the following:
1. Fold the driver’s side second row seat down. See
60/40 Split Bench Seat on page 1-8.
2. Turn the wingnut (A),
which holds the jack,
counterclockwise
to release the jack.
3. Turn the wingnut (B), which holds the jack tool kit,
counterclockwise to release it.
Open the tool bag and you will find the following tools
which you will use to remove the spare tire and flat tire:
A. Jack Handle Extension (Used for Rear Flats Only)
B. Jack Handle
C. Wheel Wrench
D. Ratchet
E. Spanner Wrench
F. Locking Pin (If Equipped) Not used for tire changing
procedure. See “Power Winch Platform” under If You
Are Stuck: In Sand, Mud, Ice or Snow on page 4-56.

That's what my manual says but step 3, there is no wingnut (B), am I blind or something? in the picture in the manual, again it shows an H2 with the spare tire inside, that second wingnut is shown next to the jack.

Thanks for your help.

H2forMe:

I have a 2005 H2. There is no tool bag where the owner's manual says it is located. When you lift the 60% seat cushion, look down at the rear base of the cushion supports and you'll notice a long thin rolled up piece of black material. You'll have to struggle a bit to pull it out, but THAT is the tool bag. Also, there is no spanner (as I recall) because you don't need it with an outside spare tire on the H2 SUV. The SUT is different.

Please let me know if you're still having trouble. It took me a while to get it all sorted out about a month ago.

Best regards,

George SSSS

It's not a dumb question. I had to ask my salesguy and he didn't know either. He went straight to where it used to be, but as someone has already said, with the external tire holder, it's under the 2nd seat. Maybe the 2006 owners manual will address that but since it was a midyear change, the manual doesn't know that.

Thanks guys, would have never found it. I guess now I have my work cut out for me since I have a baby car seat installed on the back seats. So I have to remove the baby seat to get to the tool kit.

All I wanted to do was was to secure the spare with a McGard wheel lock, hence the need for the tool bag. Maybe I'll see if I have any tools that would fit the lock to install it before I go thru with the baby seat removal which is a pain in the ...

Again, thanks everyone for your help. Really appreciate the quick responses. You guys are a hundred times better than "OnStar" and the "Hummer HotLine". They were no help. Basically "Look in the manual". I told them "I did, that's why I'm calling you guys!" Their response, "should we send you a tow truck?" my response, "No thanks, but you please send me a tool kit?"

Can't you reach under the seat and get it? I haven't looked at mine but is it tied down somehow?

What's a McGard wheel lock?

Mine is held in place by the friction of it being wedged under the metal cushion support bar. If you can get a good grip on it, you should be able to drag it out without lifting the seat cushion. The real problem will be getting it back in place without lifting the seat cushion.
