". . . Picking up the latest Hummer H3 brought some bad memories flooding back. Would it be just another vehicle aimed at those with a fat wallet and tiny ego, or would it have redeeming qualities? As it turns out, this smaller, more affordable buggy, while still outlandish in style, is far more user-friendly in nature than its siblings. Even my wife, who generally looks at automobiles in the same way as kitchen appliances, came away rather smitten. . . ."

This guy wasn't really negative but was clearly puzzled. The trouble with newspaper automotive reviewers of the H3 is that their frame of reference is the typical big urban mommy-mobile SUV and they don't have a clue about real 4x4s meant for going off the pavement. They'd never say a Corvette has too little room for passengers or cargo, or is totally impractical for Montreal's eight month winter. Different vehicles fill different needs. If you need lots of room and a softer ride you should buy a minivan.

And what the heck is the "Tow/haul mode" he refers to?
