I've been asked what it took to get from here to there, so here are the numbers.
Round trip: 4398.4 miles
383.6 gallons
11.5 mpg
54 mph avg
21% total mileage
Return trip: 2088.5 miles
179.1 gallons
11.7 mpg
65 mph avg
10% total mileage
Problems:
One flat in KY
Battery and alternator in CO
T-case in Moab
Intermittent electrical issues for the first day. Just a loose connection and thanks for all the help finding it.
Many, many scratches we didn't count on getting.
Undercarriage bumps and bruises. Nothing big.
Costs:
Return flight for copilot changed twice... for a fee each time.
Extra flight out of Moab.
Extended stay at the Gonzo... for a fee.
Extra laundry.
Battery
Alternator
Fixed flat
T-case
Extra meals
Fuel. You do the math, we use Premium.
Need for big-time detailing
Oil change
Alignment
Check suspension and steering components
Lost digital camera
Alcohol... Lots of it
Total: +10k
In return we got:
Away from the kids
A sort of honeymoon
Our truck peed on
Drink
Act stupid
A toy HUMMER from a very cute little girl. It's on the dash on the passenger side.
Play tricks on people they never knew happened.
Late nights with the boys on the patio.
Great memories.
Great stories.
Great time.
Great friends.
Actual cost: Nothing. It was priceless. Thanks everyone.

I thought I was the only one getting all sentimental. Funny how those vibes can travel from the Left coast to the Right.
BTW, almost all of those will buff out, and the ones that don't won't look as bad as they do now. I was really happy with how mine turned out after a good buff job.

I drove roughly 700 miles each day coming home. That was plenty.
On the way out I stopped and hung out with Paragon and his family in KC. That was fun. Also stopped in Denver to pick up the wife, eat dinner with the gang, etc...

That is some drive huh? How long did it take you to get to Moab from VA?
I've made the trip from NOVA to Moab three times in the past three years. It it so worth the drive.

I think they'll buff out. Just add it to the total.
