The guy was trying to cross a river he had crossed the day before to help pull out a stuck nissan. The river had swollen from the day before and the current caught the jeep and pulled it downstream.. The driver and passenger jumped out because the water was rushing through the cab and where the jeep stopped wasn't reachable by another vehicle that day. When they came back, that's what it looked like. I'll try and find the link to the whole story and the video.

There is a video clip somewhere of it actually floating down the river. I'll see if I can dig it up.

No one was hurt, they lost a lot of stuff from inside the jeep, jackets, cameras cd's etc. The Jeep belongs to the insurance co now. They settled with the owner before it was recovered.

Did it get caught in a flood or what? I can't imagine leaving a new vehicle in that kinda mud. However, I must say, "Barkeep, a round of drinks for those brave souls who resurected that poor lost Jeep! God bless 'em, and God save the Queen!"

That's pretty wild. How did the driver get caught it that position? I'm confused. It seems if he was stuck someone could have towed him out. Was the situation such that the other drivers couldn't access?

I still say good job to the crew for getting it out but that thing has to be totaled. Please correct me if I'm wrong. BTW, that is some nice scenery. Where is this exactly?

Definitely amazing, fortunately no one was hurt. Is the CJ totaled?

Steveo,

Just kidding , That was a brilliant recovery.

Buckeye,

I think the guy tried to cross it when the river or creek was swollen. Nobody probably wanted the same fate.

The recovery look like it happened when the river receded. Just a guess.

I read about this a while back. The river is HUGE from the pictures its like a 8 lane freeway, with fast rushing water. One guy lost his Fullsize Dodge with 35's. They ended up pulling the trucks and jeep out just to keep the area clean. I guess its like their drinking water or something. I can't remeber where i saw the whole story but if i find it again i will post it.

They didn't lose the Dodge, it was just damaged from the water and needed to be towed then trailered out. They did lose the jeep and a nissan though. From the sounds of it, the river changes everyday depending on temperature and just that the bottom is so soft that the profile changes all the time.

That is unbelievable. Unless it was stolen, why would they leave it there? TJ's are reletively new on the market.

BTW, No digging, 3 H2s, 5 minutes.

Bravo to those guys! Looked like fun.

It was caught up in a glacial river and buried in the silt. Also, there were vehicles built better than the H2 that couldn't even get to it so 3 of them sitting at the trailhead wouldn't have helped.. ....Steve

I assume the contents inside were just lost in the current, that's a bummer unless insurance covered it. I'm still curious as to where this is?
