Life Time CEO charged in 'parking lot rage' incident
Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal - 2:39 PM CDT Thursday

Life Time Fitness Inc. Chairman and CEO Bahram Akradi was charged with a felony Thursday for an alleged "parking lot rage" incident that took place in February, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Akradi was charged with one count of damage to property in the first degree in excess of $500 for allegedly damaging a student's car in the Minnetonka High School parking lot.

Citing the criminal complaint, the newspaper reports that the student honked at Akradi after the Life Time executive cut him off. Akradi then got out of his Hummer and slammed his fist into the student's car, leaving a dent.

Akradi allegedly yelled for the student to get out of the car. He then opened the car door and attempted to drag the student out of the car.
After that failed, he stood by his Hummer, attempting to block the student's path out of the parking lot. The student then put his car in reverse and left the lot.

The student later went to the Minnetonka Police Department with his mother to report the incident.

According to the complaint, Akradi said the student was driving too fast, but Akradi admitted to the allegations.

If convicted, Akradi could receive up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine. Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobuchar told the Pioneer Press she plans to make Akradi pay for the $750 in damage to the student's 1995 BMW and serve time on a work squad.

The charge was delayed because Minnetonka authorities turned the matter over to Hennepin County due to the extent of the damage.
Akradi founded Eden Prairie-based Life Time (NYSE: LTM) in 1992.
