Default Nerf bars saved me again

For the second time I was hit and the nerf bars saved me. The first time a guy eased into my lane and his tire rubbed the passenger side. It was on a friday night and he took off. I think he must have been drunk and did not want any police action. I pulled off and looked at the side thinking I had body damage but there was just a black mark that rubbed off with my finger. The second time a lady wanted to be in the same lane I was in. I was turning left and she tried to come into my lane. This time it was a harder hit. Thinking again I had body damage. To my suprise, the nerf bar took the hit. No body damage, just a chewed up nerf bar from here wheel and slightly bend nerf supports. I had been thinking about getting u-steps but now, no way. I am in the process of blacking out my chrome and will just replace the chrome nerf bars with black ones. Has anyone else had this experience?
