Ken call up the dealer. I'm sure they will take care of it. With mine it wasn't even a problem they looked at it and said "that should of never happened". As you can see by the pic's if they send it to a leather shop and don't use that crappy OEM stuff it will look better than new. Mine wasn't even that nice the day I bought it. Good luck.

MovinH2...
Did yours look like this? (This was my '03 with 26k miles on it.) It was on both the passenger AND driver side.

Yes but mine was cracking off. Like flaking off everytime I rubbed my hands over it. Yours looks awful too. Hopefully they replaced it?

Re: Update:Driver Seat wear
MY '03 with Wheat also crapped out on the drivers side. I had that section redone, but mine actually split at the seams! I have 62k on the beast.
Took the oppty to go ahead and get a custom look on the headrests though.....what do you think? Can't pass up an oppty to spend more money on the H2!

Nope, but I traded it that week on an '05. (The photos were to send to the dealership I was trading it in to... no, not local!)

Did you get wheat in the 05? If so how do they look?

Yes, wheat again. So far they are good (14,500+ miles) but, I cringe every time my teenage son "slides" out of the seat like a sloth!!! I'm just hoping they hold up better this time!

I'll give it time and see how the rest hold up. My dealer seems cool about it so I'm sure they'll redo the others if need be. But so far they look good. Heck the back seats look brand new. And we always have someone riding back there.

Yes.
In response to your prior post to me, the sales manager for our local dealer is on here frequently, but hasn't responded. He just knows I'm going to be popping in wanting new seats.

Re: Update:Driver Seat wear
Your replacement looks just like the one I had. But I'm pretty sure they used an oem replacement. The leather does feel different from the old stuff....not so shiny either...

Re: Update:Driver Seat wear
Very hard for a dealer to get reimbursed for a seat cover replacement without using OEM parts. GM did do some revising to the leather seats a year ago, going with a different cut (not sure something about cut with grain or against grain...I only eat steers, I don't know a thing about leather).
Many dealers will send the vehicle to a trim shop for the OEM seat cover replacement since they do not like screwing around with hog rings, j-strips, etc. The seat cover replacement labor operation allows for sublet repair to a repair shop.
Be curious if H3 owners have the same problem; they are supposed to have the new and improved "some type of grain cut" leather. I have 15K and the driver seat looks good. A little crinkling on the outer edge, which is vinyl, but the leather inserts still look good.

Just check the service log from that day, I had other stuff done. It doesn't show they ordered anything just say's "sent for service of" Hopefully it isn't OEM. I looked a few times today and even asked my friends to look. It doesn't look anymore shinner/or less shiny than the other seats. Could be this mans old eyes though.

I would wonder that too. Really seems like a problem GM should address.

Re: Update:Driver Seat wear
All manufacturers operate the same way. Warranty is paid on replacement OEM parts, unless the service or parts are not available. For example, windshield replacements can be done without factory replacement windshields and are usually done with an outside supplier.

Re: Update:Driver Seat wear
I have an 06 with 11k miles, black leather, and the drivers side is getting the cracks on it like you all are describing. I am very carefull to pick myself up getting in and out, so I don't know why it's so bad. I'm surprised they'd replace it under warranty, but based on what i've read here, i'll take it in to the dealer and try.
