hmmm, Heading that way would add an hour minimum. I plan to drive down through Livermore and tie into I5 between Livermore and Tracy. Know anyplace we could meet below that? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
No worries, I can scoop you up on 580/5 interchange, there is a Rest stop south of the interchange on I-5. Lets meet there at say 3:30?

Comparing notes here, Bondage ...
By my count we're at 13 confirmed trucks. That doesn't include JeffB's friend with the question mark by his name. I also have two ? names on my list (friends of friends) that I think are coming but I don't have their direct confirmation. I'll chase them down with that in mind.

If you're at all interested in the history of the wild west and the important role the Mojave Road has played over the centuries, $20 is well spent on Dennis Casebier's book. It's an outstanding guide to the area and includes maps and extensive trail notes.

Me, too! I've wanted to do this trail since I first learned of it. So much to see and do and lots and lots of interesting history.

Nah, I stopped asking him about it when we started to get close to our limit of 15. Just my opinion but if we can fill out all 15 with Hummers that would be cool. If he wants to do the Mojave Rd this time he can share the driving with me.
We talked about doing it awhile ago when we read the two part article in either Four Wheeler or the Off Road Adventures (free publication from 4 wheel parts). I've been looking for that article ever since I signed up for this trip with no luck.

Thanks for the tip. August and September '05 Four Wheeler. I just ordered back issues.
I imagine we'll end up with one or two non-Hummer trucks.

The Trav. Inn in Needles is an easy 28 paved miles from the trailhead - less than half an hour.
X2 ON THE MOJAVE ROAD BOOK RODSTER POSTED THE PIC OF. It's more than just a trail guide - it's an outstanding book on the history of this unique piece of real estate!
BTW - I read that 4 Wheeler article too. I wheeled the road two weeks later and it was like a pilgrimage to Mecca.
RACER X - I am all fired up for sure. This is gonna be incredible. I can't imagine seeing 12 to 15 HUMMERS caravaning down the Mojave Road. It'll be...well...LIKE NOTHING ELSE!

BTW - (I'm so jazzed I can't sleep and I just keep typing LOL) here's a cool "historic site" example of The Road;
Shaw Pass is named after a Dr. Shaw who caught an unfortunate ride with the mail buggy and one Army escort. They were attacked by Indians. Dr. Shaw was shot with an arrow through the neck and died as they were escaping from the persuing Indians through the pass that thereafter bore his name. How cool izzat?

No, not a bad idea at all. Matter of fact, it'll be a great experience and will show you a little of what your new truck is capable of.
You'll need to take off the tube steps. Eight bolts each side and you're done. It'll take you 15 minutes at the most, less if you have air tools. The tube steps drastically cut down your clearance. Taking them off will make your truck look a lot better, too.

Okay, yes. I just didn't want to agree with you again on the same page.
