I have only been to SF one time about 10 years ago but really enjoyed it. I have not idea how you would go about it but we went on a diner cruise on the bay then a private night tour of Alcatraz (sp?). It was very cool being there at night. I didn't think they normally have night tours but I would look into it. Is this business or pleasure?

OK....Union Square corner of Stockton and Geary - Sax, Neimans and Gumps!
Up one block and over one block to the gates of China Town. Great shopping there.
Then to Pier 39 at Underwater World, worth it. Continue up the Embarcadero to Bay St. Stop at Crissy Field for a walk and great views of the GG Bridge.
Get back out to Lombard up to Union Street. Have dinner anywhere you choose. It's all good.

There's an Oktoberfest at Fort Mason, between Fisherman's Wharf and GG Bridge tomorrow thru Sunday.

Hummbeebe, Thanks for all the great info! It will be myself and my co-worker. We are going to be staying at the Cornell Hotel at Union Square. Sounds like some sweet shopping! Can't wait! Can you tell me how far North Beach is. I hear there is a little Italy there. Maybe the closest I'll come to my roots!

Paisan!!!!

Walk up Stockton till you get to Columbus. Make a left on Columbus and a Right on Grant. Half a block up is North Beach Pizza. THE best Italian food in the city IMHO.

You could cab it, but there is only 5 cabs in the whole city

It's a hair over a mile.

There is a great little bar called Grant and Green, divie little place with great music. It's where the locals hang.

For somthing a little trendy, ask the cabbie to take you to Bix. It's closer to the hotel, and they have the best cosmo's and the HOTTEST SF guys

Have fun!!!
