Can the tonneau cover on the SUT be removed easily? How long does it take?
Thanks.

I had my dealer install mine, but I hear that it is a comprehensive process. Also, it does not look like it would be easy to remove.

No. Does not come off easily. And if you pull it off, you have to align a bunch of things to put it back on.

Kills it is probably a little strong of a reaction, but it would sure be a concern of mine

It is a bitch to install and not easy to take off and put back on. A very poor design by GM and it can leak.

I'd like to see just a standard, simple taneau cover like the ones made for trucks, where it just buttons down.
I think the stock cover just looks to bulky.

The tonneau cover was not designed to be waterproof. It is pretty good at keeping 98% of the water out, if it is installed right. I've seen some installation jobs by other people where half of the weatherstrips are left out.
But, I'll let you know that Hummer is designing a different style of tonneau cover which is suppossed to be out before too much longer. That one should be better.

Do you know if that one will be easy to remove and reinstall when you need to?

I've been told that is why they are redesigning one, is because people don't like that it's not easy to take on and off. Don't know what it will look like or how it will install yet.

That would be great because I wouldn't want an SUT with out one. But if you can't remove it, the folding midgate really doesn't serve as much purpose.

NEWBIE I would suggest waiting for the slant back which should at somepoint be available. I think iit will have much more utility and the look would be bad ass. The truck top store around the corner from our dealership is designing a camper shell complete with marker lights and the side vents from the H1 wagon. I would give him 3-4 months before a prototype is done.

That's great Church, becasue I have gotten ZERO help from Decoma. I have talked with Mike Desilva who has been talking with me about the Govenator's Slantback. He stated that they can be made, but tooling costs will be expensive. He gave my request to his sales team who have yet to return a single phone call. If anyone is interested in going after this more:

Thanks Church and Tim. Not sure if I like the slant back that much or not. I am guessing it would grow on me because I didn't really like the SUT at first either but now I love them. Does anyone know if the tonneau that they sell for the Avalanche is any easier to take in and out that the one for the SUT. Hadn't thought of it until I saw one about 20 minutes ago. Just curious.

YES! I was thinking about buying one, but this is really good news! I will hold off a little bit!

Any news on a new cover yet, or the slantback shell?

Still waiting....I really liked the cover that was on my Avalanche. I was able to take it off in about 2 minutes. I wish the SUT cover was as easy.
