Hello-

I'm new to the forum, and I have a question for you all... I have a 2003 H2, which my wife drives daily. Here in the SF bay area, we are constantly getting flipped off by cyclists (pedal) and the typical hippy-types. I had a guy on a bike in Santa Cruz spit on me through the driver's window (by the way, an H2 WILL do a j-turn on the Santa Cruz wharf), but I lost him in traffic. We've been spray-painted, keyed, you name it. I've taken to 'discussing' the cyclists' issues face to face when I can catch them...
My question: Is there 'standard' response the we, as H2 owners, are giving to these people? Obviously, the Santa Cruz guy needed to go to the hospital, but the other ones, like the 'flip you off' guys?
I see websites dedicated to hating us-do we have anything in response?
Bottom line: we love our H2-nearly 80,000 miles and counting, and some guy on a 15 pound bicycle in a lycra suit who's stupid enough to flip off my PMSing wife certainly is NOT going to change my mind...

x2, those idiots don't understand anything but force! Get a nice brush or tree guard first.

Another option you might want to look into is the anti-car jacking flame throwers, would be great to melt their little outfits to the skin.

Or..just simply shuve your door open really hard any time you pass a cyclist.

Believe me...it's been considered. A few years ago, a local woman in her car heard 'voices' that told her to mow down a string of cyclists...I'm starting to hear them too (or is that my wife calling on OnStar?)

It was beyond tempting to roll out of the truck on the wharf and crank off a round or 15 at the spitter dude. He probably saved me from some grief, actually...Santa Cruz had a Critical Mass (Mess?) ride that day, and it terminated at the end of the Wharf.

You could always convert to ethanol...then you'd be a "green" vehicle...

Welcome to the forum. Personally, I don't much give a schiet about some azzhat wearing a lycra suit whose opinion means nothing to me.

However, if you have to deal with someone spitting on you, at very least, I would be carrying a paintball gun. That's complete garbage... if they want to flip someone off, that's their choice but when they start a physical altercation (eg. spitting) it's time for some whoop ass.

Personally, I like the driving over them option but that would be realistic. I'm voting for the paintball gun.

Here in AZ, and I am sure in most states, spitting is considered an assault. If your assaulted you can defend yourself. And considering the possibility of someone spitting on you that has Aids, I would consider it aggravated assault.

Paintball would be my choice too.

I've only gotten the finger once so far.. Most of the comments have been good. But AZ is not the most "Liberal Friendly" state in the Union..

Believe me...I know it's an assault, and if I'd caught the guy, his trip to the hospital would have included full screening for bloodborne pathogens.

Regarding the paintball, well...I already carry a Glock...too messy.

It's hard to reason with morons, I would move to a more H2-friendly area if you don't want to be messed with. Really - anyplace but Austin, and you'd be safer.

Actually, I'd suggest picking up a couple of those disposable cameras (with flash). It's amazing to watch the light bulb goes off in their little brains, when they realize that their actions will have repurcusions.

Tis trew.

Nothing worst than driving away "Wishing" you had done something about it. The anger stays inside you for days. In many cases for me, I'm usually in a good mood almost instantly.

Man that sucks....I couldnt imagine having to put up with that on a daily basis.

Cameras are your friend. If you can document their actions and identify the individual you have a foot to stand on.

Yeah...there's one guy in particular who, every Wednesday when it's not raining, pulls up next to my wife on his bike while she's in the school dropoff line and starts hollering at her. Tomorrow, since it'll be sunny, I'm planning on following her in another car and photgraphing him when he does it. Then, I'm going to follow him to wherever he works and figure out who he is and who he works for...then the fun begins...

No, no, no. It's gotta be your wife making a wide-eyed "I fear for my life!" {sob} {sniff} {sob!} kindda report to the police.

After you have an official police report, THEN you can go to where he works -- you know, as justifiably outraged husband n all...
