New Wheels finally...
I've been trying to get my sh!t together for the last few months in regard to my truck lately. I'm trying to the the wheel/tire mods done first before I get my brush guard made.. (sorry Roush..I'll contact you asap. The wifey has a baby on the way and my work has been crazy lately)
To the point,
I'm looking at a set of 22x11 american racing thug teflon wheels with a 0mm offset on 37x13.5 r 33 Kuhmo mt's..
Tirerack does not want to sell me the set because I said that I do not have a lift kit. I know that some of you guys run 22x12 rockstars on w/ 37 inch kuhmos with torsion bar lifts.. The rockstar has a -24mm offset.
Do you guys think a wheel with some negative offset will be better or should I stick with the thugs since they have no offset.. Any advice is appreciated.

Re: New Wheels finally...
My advice is to not get the Kumhos. When I installed mine it seemed like my body roll increased substantially when cornering...my guess is weak sidewalls? Anyway, I was not happy with my Kumho m/t at all. Go with toyo or something else--trust me youll be much happier.

Re: New Wheels finally...
I wondered about that. Remembered reading your posts on that subject... Since my tires will be a little more low profile, I'm wondering if that will help with the side wall feeling like they are going roll...

No worries man, Its been so damn cold I haven't finished them all anyways and thought you fell off the face of the earth lol.
Correction on the Rockstars... -24mm are the 20x10, the 20x12s are -44mm... Honestly, the only way you'd be able to get away with what you're wanting with a 13.5" tire is by getting Wheel Spacers, 0mm offset just isn't enough, and dont ever tell Tirerack you dont have a lift, they always wanna play it safe, Eibach sells some spacers with 20/30/40mm or whatever you can find and you'll have the perfect setup you want with those wheels.
BUT.... dont go offroad with the spacers on... I just dont trust them for offroading eventhough a lot of people think they're very safe... just a thought.
and I'm with you on the Kumho's man, I love those tires, actually thinking of them for my next set soon. .... so, let me know what you find out.

Are they telling you they won't sell you the rims or suggesting that you don't buy them?
Just curious.

Re: New Wheels finally...
Really man? I thought that the 22's were -24mm offset. Is a negative or positive offset better on an 11inch wheel.

I'd like to know as well. I remember seeing another post that stated the kuhmo's "on" road handling sucked...
Maybe I should go with the toyo's instead. Truthfully, I'd love 37's on 22 inch wheels but after all the concerns maybe I should go with the 35's on 20's..
I've included a few pics of trucks that I like
Some have 37's and some 35's..
The blue SUT with the gobi rack has the setup that i want only with 20 inch wheels with 37" kuhmos...
THoughts?

Re: New Wheels finally...
Strongly Suggesting...
I'm sure they would but they really made me second guess myself. DAMN! I have to pull the trigger on something soon...
It's either the AM racing Thug's in a 22x11 0mm offset on 37x13.50 kuhmo (heard they run narrower than a true 13) or the 35x12.5r22 toyo.. They have some pics of this wheel tire combo at

Re: New Wheels finally...
This one is by far one of my favorites minus the flat black paint. Not my thing.
This is the wheel/tire setup that i want but I can't tell if it's lifted. These are the same 0mm offset wheels in a 22x11 on 37's

Those are the wheels I'm going with if I ever change mine. I like 'em.

AHHH, you know what? I was actually talking about the 20", totally missed that you were looking at 22's, my bad!

Re: New Wheels finally...
So can anyone tell me what offset and wheel width I need to be able to fit 37x12.5 inch tires? I've seen a few guys with 22x12 rockstars (-44mm offset with 4.77 of backspacing) on 37x13.50 kuhmos with only a torsion lift.. I can't mess with anything more than that because of my air ride in the rear. No one really makes a decent lift for the luxury package. I'd really like the 22x11 thugs (0mm offset) which means that they would sit "in" further" than the rockstars so they'd probably rub on the torsion bars. The rockstars and diesels both have negative offsets so they'd stick out more. Where does the tire typically rub on most set ups with 37's? I remember reading that the outside rear tread hits the backside of the front wheel well? I don't mind trimming my wheel well a little so that is the most important question that I need to know. Due to the limited garage height I'd rather cut than lift
Also note the stock wheel size/offset are as follows
Hummer H2 Wheels:
Size: 17" x 8.5"
Bolt Pattern: 8x6.5
Off-set: 18 MM
Backspacing: 5.5"
Weight Rating: 3,195 lbs per rim
It seems that the backspacing of the thugs will be closer to the stock wheel..
Here are the specs for the thug.
Offset: 00mm Backspacing: 5.47" Bolt Pattern: 8-165
Here are the rockstar specs
22x12 -44mm offset with 4.77:backspacing
Essentially if I go with the ATX THUG I'll have to deal with greater diameter of the tire but that's it. The rockstars would stick out about 2 inches further than the thugs. It would be nice if I could 'try" a set but I don't live close to anyone that has a similar setup. Worst case I could add spacers like roush suggested

Re: New Wheels finally...
Anyone know the answer to this one.. on a 22x11 wheel with 37' kuhmo's what would work better a -44 offet, -24 offset, or a 0mm offset. I'm worried about the rubbing.. I have no problem cutting the inside of the wheel well if necessary but I'd like to make sure that they will fit before I order them...
IF I don't get an answer soon I swear I'll put 30's on this thing and street pimp it! LOLOLOL

Re: New Wheels finally...
Yeah,
I was hoping to run the 37" Kuhmo's.. The guys at west KY customs had mentioned that even though the kuhmos are classed as 13.5 wide they fit easier then the Toyo MT's.. I know that a few guys on this site run the 22x12 rockstars with the Kuhmos but have not seen anyone run a 37x12.5 r22 Toyo without at least a 2 inch lift. I'm wondering if the 0mm offset will rub worse than the -24 or -44mm offset. That was my question. Do I need more or less backspacing. The stock offset is about 5 inches.. I'd really prefer to get 22's but I'm running short on time so I may have to jump on the 20s on 35 inch tires unless someone can tell me if the 37's will fit.

Re: New Wheels finally...
The 37's on 22's will fit several people on here have done from what I have found.
You will have to raise the front end, they probably will rub on the sway bar
and you might have to trim the back side of your inner fender.
I just bought my first H2 and it has 22x10's with 6" backspacing and 35 toyo at
the passenger side hits the sway bar now so with a larger tire and less backspacing to push the wheel out farther 37's will probably be the same
I want 37's on 22's too but for me the question is gearing and performance.
I drive mine a lot on the freeway and 2 trips a year across country so I'm concerned about the trans coming out of overdrive, being under powered and mileage going below 10mpg
I cant find anyone saying how much gears really helped.
and finally West kentucky customs says all 22x11 xd wheels are out of stock till mid march.....BS

Tremendously... plus you'll gain about 2 mpg.
