Default HUMMER ACC's behind

I've been looking at all the accessories out their for the HUMMERS (mainly for 2's and 3's).

There are tons a bling stick on and billet ACC's. As for true Off Road products, there isn't a ton of stuff out there, but mainly everything I have wanted except a rear bumper (road armor not included).

The H2's have been on the market since mid 02? And the H3's have been around a year I think.

Why are their soooo many aftermarket offroad products available for the new FJ? THey have multiple susp. bumpers, winches, racks, rock rails, UC protection available and they've only been out a few months.

I saw a lifted one at Home Depot today with front and rear winch bumpers and rock rails and a roof rack. It looked mean! The guy sid he jsut had the front locker put it and is now finally ready to take it out.

What gives? Why are there not a lot of off road aftermarket stuff out there? And why is it taking so long?

well, as you mention, most everything that one could want (lift, front locker, alternate armor, and so on) is available. In addition to that Road Armor rear bumper i think H2O hummers is releasing one.

But some thoughts on why less parts exist for H2s and/or H3s might be

A) There are, literally, millions upon millions of wranglers and tacomas floating around for a couple/few thousand bucks. out of warranty, cheap, and ready to be modified. People are probably less likely to modify new, expensive, and warranted vehicles. ANd h2s are outnumbered by wranglers and tacos on the road by probably 50:1 or worse

B) H2s and H3s are really good offroad right out of the box, and don't need to be completely re-done to go to moab or a gravel pit near you

C) the FJ probably uses alot of Taco parts, and so it probably had most all of its aftermarket stuff already ready for it. Or maybe 'yota funded/encouraged people to work on things

D) my local toyota dealer will lift/modify FJs right off the lot, but the local hummer dealer (along with Chevy) won't. The local dodge dealer will. I'd guess about 90% of lifted pickups around are Toyota or Dodge. coincidence? probably not. Maybe GM as a general rule doesn't encourage functional mods while Toyota does

E) there are far, far, far, far, far, far more parts available for H2s and H3s than land rovers, and LRs are far far far far more common around here than hummers. Even than H3s

F) etc.

and probably in any market, the accessories available are inversely related to both the cost of a vehicle and its rarity. More rare = less parts, higher cost = less parts.

more performance parts available for a honda civic or a dodge viper? Ferarri or 350Z? Etc and so on.

The H2s are simply far more expensive than anything commonly wheeled. I ask jeepers with monstrous non-jeeps with chevy engines nad blah blah blha... they usually have 10 or 15 grand into them.

So we probably have a far better accessory market than anything else inhabiting the upper cost niche in any given arena. I mean, we're alot better off than a Lambo customer...

Most people saw me wheeling stock for so long, that's why. Now that I've upgraded a bit, you'll see the masses migrate.

I think that's a good thing to add, as phil loosely noted.

offroad world bias. does that one 4x4 forum, which is very manly, have no section for hummers, but a section for dodge, etc. Pirate4x4 or whatever it is.

that basic massive whining pouting complex that hummers seem to give jeepers and the like (and pre-dating the H2, JPmagazine pouted plenty about hummers before the H2 hit the streets) maybe keeps people in the biz from working on parts for hummers.

silly boys, letting their bruised egos get in the way of making a buck...
