I'm going to replace my alternator. 145 amp OEM from GMpartsdirect cost $230, eBay has $200 amp alternators (they say they fit H2) for as low as $120.
What is the advantage of the 200 amp? Is it necessary?
Do you see any risks with 200 amp AND/OR non-OEM? It's pretty tempting at half price...
Thanks
for example
200 amp may actually produce 200 amps, but at 5000 RPM.
at idle it may only produce 100 amps..
as for the OEM 145 amp.. i do not have the specs on it, so i cant give you a comparison.
most likely, the 200 amp only will produce the full 200 amps somewhere about 1200 rpm to 1800 rpm, which is prefectly fine.
you are also looking for somethign that produces 14.5 volts there or abouts.
the benefit is you can run more toys without worries of taxing your system.
as long as it will month up to the engine. you may have to pull the pull off the old one and put on the new one so the sepr belt fits to it.. you should be good
