What is the best 3-4 inch lift kit
Hey all,
Ok I am thinking about lifting my ride and would like to know what the best lift kit is for this.
I dont want to lift it alot because it is a daily driver for me and I still need to clear with my roof racks a 7'1" parking garage for work. I also dont want to start having to tear apart the suspension to replace parts because this will cause alot of wear (like i know you have to do on some lift kits).
I am also looking to do this as economically as possible since this is really only for looks since my truck really doesnt see much off road time
Thanks for your inputs

I would imagine spacers in the rear and new torsion keys should get you the 3-4 inches you're looking for. Although I don't know about leveling kit and bigger tires-might not fit....

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see how you can do a lift and still clear a 7'1 Parking Garage"

Probably keys and a spacer cause the 4" Rancho seems to lift it more then 4".
The Truxxx spacer and keys kit can fit 37's with a lil rubbing or trimming.

Re: What is the best 3-4 inch lift kit
Mud,
I am trying to run the widest and tallest tire I can fit on a stock diameter wheel (please note: I didnt say stock width since I will be staying stock diameter but going as wide as I can with a aftermarket wheel)
LoJac and Bimmer,
Where would be the best place I can find these and for the cheapest price?
Also would they still allow my air ride to work?
And what would you say the difficulty level is on install, since I have alot of knowledge under my belt on car work but currently my tool set isnt what it should be (all my tools where disappered on me )
NJ H2,
If my math and measurements are right, the H2 with air right fully inflated measures about 6'9" and if you give it 3-4 inches that is 7' - 7'1"
sure it is close, but usually garages say 7 feet and there is about an inch or two more of clearance. So.......

Re: What is the best 3-4 inch lift kit
When I had my Toyos and the 3" lift it wouldn't fit in ANY parking garages, especially the 7 ft ones downtown. That three to four inch number is not exact on the lifts and don't forget to ad the extra height from oversized tires. Hot weather can make your Hummer grow as the steel in the suspension expands. On the coldest days in the winter I could almost fit in the 7 ft garage by the office, but needed about three inches inches to fit (those big tires have a larger sidewall), and on hot days it was slightly worse - something I never factored for. Then you have the gearing issue with oversized tires. You can't put on big tires without changing the gears unless you want dismal acceleration.

Re: What is the best 3-4 inch lift kit
The Truxxx kit (the rear spacer) would not work with factory air ride, so it would be a good time to switch over to springs. You can usually find them used here and on ebay cause a lot of full suspension system kits come with replacement springs. I got my Truxxx keys and spacers (with free shipping).

Re: What is the best 3-4 inch lift kit
is there anything that will raise the rear while keeping the air ride?

Re: What is the best 3-4 inch lift kit
Someone on here once had a custom spacer made for air ride, it was for sale... maybe search it? I think someone also made a bracket to relocate the air ride sensor to trick it into thinking it was low to air up the bags more to raise the rear. I've owned two H2's with air ride and one with springs, if ride quality is a concern, trust me there isn't much of a difference. The big selling feature on air ride was being able to push the button to raise the rear 2" if you were going off road, but it lowers down as soon as you go over 35 mph.

You're also assuming that the parking deck is correct.
Honestly - if you're needing to park in that deck, keep it stock. Or find surface parking that you can handle and go with a 6" lift.
