I recently bought an H3 without the towing package, which means my rear bumper does not have an access hole for class 3 hitch. Now that I want to add the towing package, will the dealer replace my rear bumper with the access hole or will they just put the hitch under my bumper? I know the option when I bought the vehicle was only around $350 to $400, but does anyone know the cost now that I will need a new rear bumper?

Well... Woodfield Hummer said they won't even touch it, that is why all or nearly all of their stock is ordered with the hitch.

There was another post a while back about the same thing. I dont remember the final outcome but I dont think the owner was able to find anything.

Do a search for Hitch in the H3 General you may find it.

Good luck

I'm sure someone will make a hitch for it soon.
I was glad to buy the towing package when I got it... though I'm pretty disappointed that they are too cheap to give you the wiring adapter, cover and ball that most of us would use.

Croft Trailer has done some for us. It does hang below the bumper but is a cheap alternative to replacing everything.

http://www.etrailer.com sells receiver hitches from draw tite and reese I believe. Or, do a google search. Also U-haul sells and installs hitches if you don't want to do it yourself or if the wiring isn't your thing.

I had one fabbed at ohio trailer, it was a mess. I ended up grinding the whole thing off once an aftermarket unit became available. It bolted right up and uses existing bolts for mounting points. It does sit below the rear bumper but just below it. For my purposes it works fine and should also protect my muffler and rear bumper from stray rocks and ledges off road. Yes, it takes a degree or two off the departure angle, but it beats having nothing at all if you have to tow.
