I am sure the H3 manual has the same verbiage that the H2 manual has that calls for the oil to be changed EITHER when the indicator tells you to OR at least once per year, whichever occurs first.

Re: 15,000 mile oil change...
My oil change light goes off about every 10,000 miles (65,000 total miles) regardless of driving conditions. I drove it 5,000 miles pulling a 4,000 lb trailer
It has been a common thread on here. The oil change indicator is NOT reliable. I change mine every 5,000 miles. I keep track in a log book. I only reset the oil change light when it goes off and log it also.

You should reset it each time you change oil...
There is no magic to it. It is just a odometer reader.

X2 I use mobil 1 change every 5 or 6k depending on how much I trailer(4,000lbs) indicator says 55% left ?
I also drove a 5,000 mile trip towing and got around 12mpg. up to 1 mpg better on flat ground.
I also got a wind deflector and I get a extra 1.5 mpg now
dlinden did you have a problem with premature downshifting to 2nd up long steep hills ,some hills I had to slow down to 50mph.
At 65 70mph it would do crazy downshifts reving at 5,400rpm's .
If I could hold 70+ it wont drop to second.

I believe that is incorrect. The oil life system monitors driving conditions (temperatures, speeds, other factors?) and calculates oil life for the vehicle. While it typically goes well past what traditional recommended oil change intervals have been (and the 3k that the Jiffy lube guys want to stick you with), following the oil life system won't void your warranty.
There was a GM engineer on here long ago who had some facts about the testing GM did for this system, but it is too late in the evening for me to try to look it up.
That said, I change mine every 5000 miles just because I'm a bit old school (and it gives me time to bond with the truck).

Re: 15,000 mile oil change...
I dont think driving conditions are used because when towing 5,000 miles the % was the same as normal driving.?

Re: 15,000 mile oil change...
Wow, lots of stuff on this if you Google it. Here's a blurb from GM website:
What is the GM Oil Life System?
The GM Oil Life System is a computer based software algorithm that determines when to change oil based on engine operating conditions. There is no actual oil condition sensor. Rather, the computer continuously monitors engine-operating conditions to determine when to change oil.
I don't really know what it means, but my point was that it isn't just an odometer monitoring thing (like my wife's T&C van has).

fourfourto,
I usually drove in 3rd gear at 60 mph. If I drive over 60, then put it in D.
I Never drive over 65. I get trailer sway. Thinking of getting some cheap anti-sway bars from JC Whitney. Will be driving to Alaska and back in the summer. But ya up hills I shut the cruise off and anticipate the downshift, and if necessary hit the 4 way blinkers.
Which brings me to another point. At first I thought the 4 way blinker button was in an obnoxious spot. Big and right in the middle of everything.
But now I think its in the perfect spot.

Re: 15,000 mile oil change...
I use a friction swaybar on the right side and it works well.
No sway up to 80MPH I try not to go over 75.
