Letter from GM regarding brake potential problem
Received a letter from GM regarding potential problems on my 06 H3 regarding hose failures in northern US from road salt and other contaminants. They are offering to cover problems for up to 10 years or 120,000 miles.
Inspected my hoses and they appear fine. Appreciate the heads up if a alarm comes up on my DIC I will get it towed direct to the dealer.
They have a # posted for questions 800 732 5493

Re: Letter from GM regarding brake potential problem
Wow
I guess that letter should be kept in the glove box,and maybe check them at 119,000 miles.
I have not received that letter yet.

Re: Letter from GM regarding brake potential problem
442,
Great idea for the glove box. If you live south you will not see it. Evidently salt used for ice/snow is tearing up the break lines.
Nice of GM to give the warning. Yes a reminder for the 9.9 years or 119,999 is a good precaution for brake checks...

442,
Hey friend, are you showing any problems on your brake lines or connections concerning the alert letter?
Thanks Pal!

Re: Letter from GM regarding brake potential problem
Hey
suprized theres a new posting on this sight
Just changed brakes/rotors at 100k(drilled/sloted ceramic pads) and lines looked good?
I will inspect at 119(maybe brush some battery acid on them)
How are your lines doing?

Re: Letter from GM regarding brake potential problem
My son has my old H3 with over 140,000 miles on it the last time I checked. He lives in Telluride, CO and does a lot of mountain driving and the car gets a lot of winter salt on it. He replaced the brakes and rotors at 95,000 miles and had the lines inspected over the summer and they are doing fine. He is OCD about keeping his cars clean and has a heated garage to wash off salt and road dirt. He also sprays the undercarriage with black Rustoleum on a regular basis.
