Ordering an SUT.

If I wanted to advertise my company name on the rear side, and back windows...that would make the vehicle 100% deductable? Advertising deduction?

Yes or no?

Thanks,

I was also thinking about one of those vehicle "wraps" for advertising (if it could be done tastefully). But they are pricey at like 3k.

No.

Placing advertising on the vehicle has nothing to do with the deductibility under the tax code.

You must determine % of allowable mileage driven for work and only that determines the amount you may deduct.

What about the SUV tax writeoff?

http://www.elcova.com/groupee/forums?a=tpc&s=2826088551&f=5106011751&m=806609694 4

Wouldn't this make it 100%?

""Approximately 24 million Americans -- anyone filing a Schedule C or corporate tax return could write off $100,000 in the first year for the purchase of a vehicle for business use weighing 6,000 pounds or more.""

Anyone filing a schedule C..that would be me.

Placing advertising on your vehicle has nothing to do with making it elegible to write-off.

You asked if you could place advertising and write it off based on the advertising - the answer to that is "no".

There are certain types of driving that count as "business use". If more than 50% of your mileage qualifies as business use as per the tax code than you can write of that percentage of the purchase price up to whatever limit is in effect at time of purchase (and assuming that you made more than this amount).

You need a tax professional - do NOT rely on information gleaned from an internet forum.

I was told by my CPA that the money that you spend on advertising can be deducted, and if you place an ad per say on your H2 then you can write off the money, IE miles, fuel, etc need to accompany up keep on your advertising. Just as if you were placing ads in papers of flyers, now I could be wrong but this is what I was told.. Do with it what you wish.. Thanks

Yes - advertising for work (100%), gas, oil, taxes, insurance, interest on the car loan, etc. can all be written off....based on % used for work.

See that is what I was thinking. He told me that I can do this "WRAP" for my businesses and then I can write all that off. So I just thought that I would include my findings..

Those wraps..It's like a moving billboard that way

Around here alot of businesses (mostly restaurants) have vans, cars, trucks, etc.. sitting in the grass at the various street intersections plastered with the business name. They have basically turned the vehicle into a billboard

In most states as soon as you put an advertizment on your vehicle it must be registered commerical. That means you have to get commerical insurance. Both cost big bucks in NJ. Better check your state laws. By the way if you put a sign on the truck in NJ without commerical plates the fine is in the hundreds.
