I was out on the trail today, and what happened to show up but a FJ cruiser. I asked him if he wanted to cruise the rest of the trail together so we wheeled on down the trail. I didn't get as good an idea about it's ability as I wanted (He had no concept of 4low and just bounced over everything), but it went over and through quite a bit. He didn't go through some of the technical stuff that I did, but I do have to say that it did impress me overall. One area that I could for sure tell it needed help in is it's TCS. It didn't seem to grip and move as easily. It spun tires where I was just crawling over. We both went through a mud pit about 30 inches deep he just took alittle longer.
The FJ's ground clearance is less than the H3. (we both got out and compared) The advertisements are more than a little off. (And he had the offroad package with the bigger tires)
In closing, it's definitely worth driving on the trail. Do I think it's as good as an H3? Well no, because of it's TCS mainly(not to mention the interior , but I was impressed with it's ability on the trail.
Oh yeah did I mention that a Z71 got stuck in the 30inch mud pit that we both went through. He had sucked water into the intake. I hooked up the rope to him, and the guy was like, "If you can't pull us out we can call somebody." I just smiled and said, "Ok." I told him to put it in neutral. I put it in 4low1st, tightened the rope, and proceeded to pull him out no sweat. The other guys from the truck were just sitting there awestruck. When I got out to disconnect the rope, one of them was like, "Dude! You didn't even spin a tire! Holy ****!" I just smiled and said, "Yeah you'd never think it was running on 5 cylinders." He just dropped his jaw and looked back at the hum. That has to be one of my favorite things on the trail. Suprising everyone that has underrated the H3 as a grocery getter.

Re: fj
There's about a two mile long power line trail near regency park in cary. There's alot of technical stuff, creeks, washes, 60% hills, deep mud, deep standing water, a granite twist ditch up a 30% grade, lots a ruts to navigate up to 3ft deep(don't fall in ), and some little rock gardens. There's even a log pile to drive up if you want.
Hey HI. Let me know when you wanna wheel. We should go to Uhwarrie. I hear it's pretty nice. Not to mention if I go alone, some people might have hummer envy and not pull me out. Not that I ever get stuck of course .
