Default For those with modified trucks - warranty?

Ok, my initial warranty is about to run out in October. Is it worth getting an aftermarket warranty if I've already voided half the stuff with a lift? Or is there a good warranty out there that will cover almost all the parts?

Stacy, I did a search but every thread with the word warranty came up.

Our original is still active.

This looks pretty good at a glance.

I would say that even if you couldn't get it all covered, it has to be worth it. Lots of other little expensive components could go bad.

"CAUTION"! Be very careful in choosing a car warranty. Do your homework first. Some things to investigate & consider are as follows:

* Be certain to get a copy of the warranty contract and "read it" to determine specifically what is covered and what is not covered. If a company is not willing to let you see the actual policy contract - "buyer beware".

* Be certain that the warranty is backed by an insurance company that has a current A.M. Best rating of at least an "A".

* Get the details concerning the process the warranty company will use to determine whether a claim will be covered and how it will be paid (i.e. can you take your vehicle to any shop; who pays for diagnostic work; If covered by what method does the warranty company pay - do you pay the shop & warranty company "reimburses" you, or does your shop contact the warranty company for authorization and warranty company pays your shop with a credit card; How long will it take the warranty company to determine if a claim will be covered and how fast will the shop be paid or you be reimbursed).

* Talk to the service tech at your shop to find out what warranty companies they believe to be the best and why; and like you're doing get feedback from individuals who have aftermarket warranties and have used it.

* Generally speaking do not purchase an aftermarket warranty from an auto dealer because you'll also pay their commission for same.

* Shop, shop, shop and negotiate the price. You'll be amazed at the potential flexibility in price for arftermarket warranties once you start negotiating.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

I purchased an aftermarket warranty for my H2. I've got 4 year warranty, add'l 54000 miles and they added an extra couple of hundred bucks because of my liftkit.

So far I've only made one claim. It was for an ac compressor and though they covered the parts and labor, drier, freon, recharge and evacuate was not covered. (wtf)

Still, better than not having any...

The whole package was like 1899 bucks with no deductible.

Here's a copy of my warranty.

The auto club warranty is actually rated good with Better Business Bureau. I have been burnt before and I am glad to see a good rated warranty service. If you look most have many issues. Here is a link to the report if you are interested.

Its worth it! KB hasnt given me "much" shiat when I take mine in. The GM rep alway has to bless any repairs but so far no problems. Steering pump out and they TRIED to say it was becasue of the mods. After a few phone calls...no problem. Its worth it. Plus, I can prove that they knew about all of my mods when they sold me the extended warranty. Call me if you want to talk.
