Took the H3 out today at Tahoe. Ran like a champ, not that the terrain was any difficult but just wanted to point out that it ran flawlessly.
My favorite part was in one section of i80 they were stopping cars asking whether they were 4x4 and if not to pull over and put chains on. The caltran guy was signaling several 4x4s pointing to them with a hand jester of "is that 4x4" but when it was my turn, he just waved me through... lol LOVE IT.
anyways, here are some pics...
I really need to get the clear film for the fenders!

just like today... when we left this morning at around 5am it was foggy, roads were covered with snow and by the end of the day it was clear and the roads were clear.

I've found that the H3 is a truely great vehicle in the snow. It's a pleasure to drive when the flakes start to fall.

Mark,
Sounds like a great trip to Tahoe! I plan to use my H3 for some ski trips this spring. How did your rig run at high altitude? Or were speeds constrained by snow and traffic on your trip?

i didnt find the rig having any difficulties with the high altitude. I was worried as to what people were thinking when they found out the H3 was only an inline 5... they were saying that going to tahoe the H3 would be slow up the hills... Shoot, my brother had an X3 and I smoked him! The H3 halls butt!
I never engaged 4lock, left it on its original settings until I got to donner pass exit. Thats when I noticed the truck needed the 4lock. They hadnt groomed the roads yet. lots of snow and ice.

Just to add ...
Already made 3 trips to Tahoe via I-80 and 50 since Christmas, no problem climbing the Sierra.
H3 ROCKS!!

I gotta ask, since I know many of you use OEM mudflaps in similar conditions. Look at Mark's photos after driving in snow country, and the mud spray on the side of his H3. Do you think the mudflaps would reduce some of that crap on the side (looks like he's running stock 32's)?

I went on a dirt road by my crib and it was wet so the dirt basically was mud , Damn when i got out the car i couldn't even grab the door habdles, lot of crao on the handles that is my only concern, So I ordered the Husky gurads I have not installed them yet We'll see I let you know if it makes a difference.

stock tires... and I hear the mudflaps reduce a good portion of the mud, specially on the handles... the wife was like.. WTH!
anyways, ordered the husky flaps from ebay, should arrive shortly! I'm also planning on putting 3M clear film on the fenders so that they dont get chipped.
