Key stuck in ignition!!!! help fast
My key is stuck in the ignition. I have search the forums to no avail.
The truck starts and drives in all gears and shuts off, but the damn key doesn't come out. I live in the city so this poses a security problem
Help!!

Have you tried wiggling it up and down, side to side? If so, try a small squirt of WD-40 or similar alternative. My wife's car did that once, this method seemed to work. Best of luck.....Jamie

If that won't work. You can gentle pry the bottom of steering column off and there should be a round hole towards the front of it that you can stick an object in to release the key. This link may help a little bit for permanent fix. http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...&highlight=key

Re: Key stuck in ignition!!!! help fast
Time to take a trip to the dealer, you probably need a new switch. I've had 2 replaced already.

A locksmith will do it cheaper than the dealer.

Re: Key stuck in ignition!!!! help fast
Broken wire at the shifter assembly, right at the connector for the park position switch, or the park position switch can be stuck this usually happens over time with coffee and other liquids spilling in the cupholders, once you remove the cupholers by prying carefully with A flatblade it is just held with 3 clips. you can access the shifter assembly, push the button on the side of the shifter and you should be able to rotate the key back and remove it. then inspect the wiring at the switch, if it is ok the switch is gummed up.

Re: Key stuck in ignition!!!! help fast
I got the key out, by taking off the bottom cover and pressing the solenoid in front of the cylinder. I think it might be the parking switch that Humtech was talkinng about becuase the solenoid does not accuate when the vehicle is taken in and out of park. I will try Humtech's remedey tonight. Does anyone haves pics of what the parking switch looks like?
Thanks in advance

You were right on! The red wire going switch had a gash on it a the wire was broken inside the insulation. Nothing that a wire splice heat shrink and a heat gun wouldn't fix. Now I'm back in business
Thanks Million for all of the great suggestions
