H4 & H3T Coming
GM has confirmed the 2010 Hummer H4. It will share its under body with another upcoming compact architecture, but the fun doesn?t stop there as the H3 sees the addition of a diesel, ethanol and hybrid power model and the addition of a new H3 SUT model in 2008.
The H3?s short nose precludes most V6 installations, so talk is rife that Hummer will fit a derivation of the 2.0-litre common-rail four-cylinder turbo-diesel unit found in the Holden Captiva.
Developed by VM Motori of Italy and produced by GM DAT in South Korea, a size increase to 2.2 or even 2.5 litres is a possibility.
Hummer is also looking at E85 ethanol versions of its two petrol engine choices, as well as a move to biodiesel technology.
Hummer general manager Martin Walsh revealed that the H4 will be twinned with an upcoming compact General Motors platform, although he stopped short of saying which one it would be.
A Hummer insider admitted to fearing that its hard-won hardcore off-road image may be irreparably harmed if GM decides to go "soft" with the H4.
Hummer needs to maintain its 4WD reputation by ensuring that all its vehicles have a separate chassis, short overhangs, class-leading approach, breakover and departure angles, ample ground clearance and signature Hummer styling cues.
At the other end of the spectrum is the development of an H2 replacement.
Also due out by about the end of the decade, it will again be developed off GM?s full-sized 1500/2500/Suburban truck platform: aka---GMT900.
However, a greater emphasis on luxury, as well as right-hand drive engineering, should see the H2 II challenge vehicles such as the Range Rover Vogue and Lexus LX570 in markets outside North America

(First, it is not what we all would consider an "SUT." An SUT implies a very short bed, it is a truck bed, and it will not be out as a 2008 Model. When, I really can't say, but again, it will not be a 2008 model vehicle. Besides, this has been discussed to death on this forum. As for diesel? Yes, in non-North American applications, I agree. But for US; don't hold your breath. I won't say never, but I will say not on the early horizon. Then again, things can change over night.)
The H3’s short nose precludes most V6 installations, so talk is rife that Hummer will fit a derivation of the 2.0-litre common-rail four-cylinder turbo-diesel unit found in the Holden Captiva. (Now this sentence has me laughing. A V6 won't fit, but a V8 will? The nose precludes most I6 installations, but you can slap in an LS engine, you can probably put in every thing but a full big block or a 6.6L duramax. As for a 2.0L diesel from a Captiva. Damn, we have one of those at work, and it is a nice Diesel, but it can hardly move the 2500 lb vehicle. Let's double the weight and head out. Think a 3.5L is slow....)

Hummer is also looking at E85 ethanol versions of its two petrol engine choices, as well as a move to biodiesel technology. (GM is looking at E85 for all engines. Really no big news, and no big deal.)

(Unless it has changed from what I saw last year, it will retain its Hummer look; more so than the H2 or H3. Sorry can't elaborate. As for another vehicle...can't addrress that here either.)

There will be a full designed replacement something in the near future, it will have at least one exciting new engine and transmission. But luxury? Isn't it already a pretty luxurious vehicle?)

Now, to wash the beast.
(PS That photo is a very old concept vehicle, and is NOT correct.)

Re: H4 & H3T Coming
Nope, the '09 H3 Alpha's going to have a 6 cylinder Dmax, six speed transmission, portal drive axles with lockers, refrigerated/heated center console storage, built in pto winches front and rear with rear camera and heads up night vision display from the Cadillac line with infrared auxilliary lamps for that night wheelin'.
