Gerber, nice do-it-yourselfer. Bet it wheels great. But do you have to trailer it everywhere? Just wondering because that set up will beat the piss out of ya after awhile. Oh, but I'm sure you're a stud and you eat nails so you can take it, right?
You're probably one of the butthumps on PBB that whines about Extreme4X4 on Spike not being hardcore enoughhttp://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
I'll bet your neighbors were pleased with the overspray that wafted over onto their cars.

Don't like it when your buttons are pushed, do you.

It's always everyone else that's missing the point, isn't it. You have failed miserably at making any point except the one of making an ass of yourself. I just enjoy helping out. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Sorry paragon, you are the making an ass of yourself without anyones's help http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif The video is posted here:

I did not see it in the pirate site unfortunately...

Like in one of my first posts, the same thing portrayed in Dennis video, can be applied to any rig, as there are planny of "funny " Videos with any rig breaking, including Hummers. His video has low riders "bling" Jeeps, the same can be found on Google Images, easily... that is what I posted. The pic of a Hummer with broken tie rods or video can also be posted in teh same location Dennis put in his video....

Trust me I have nothing personal against you or anyone here, and have no reason to.. welll Paragon is getting there, but not worth my time... I saw your video and also laughed and know it was a joke. I came to thsi site a few weeks back looking on HWMVV, H2, H3 etc. I saw that the video had the address so finsing the thread was not hard, and I read through some seeing what peopel were saying and what the debate was about. If anyone thought I was going to come to a Hummer site to bash on Hummers they are wrong. I was making fun the same way you made fun on the video, so it should have been seen as such. Some peopel just did not know how to take it, and that is understandable..

I am sure if any of us here would meet face to face we would have a few beers, and have some laughs, nothing personal.

Paragon,

To help you undertsand, the rattle can job is done by many off roaders since it is easily repairable after rock rashes, trail scratches, or tree branches against the paint to avoid rust. A simple rattle can job can be done by most if prepped correctly.

I developed my suspension, axles and setup (Ford front), rear Chevy 14 bolt). The Jeep has been built by me for wheeling, without anyones help. I am not bashing and discussing teh buy vs build here. Or saying that my rig is bigger or better than yours. I am saying I build it. I put it togheter, and if you chill and leave behind being upset, or anything, take your time, and look at the threads on pirate and you can actually see what I have done.

Doing Slickrock next weekend, and deer Valley in Agust. Doing some Swedish wheeling in September and Rubicon in October. Am bummed about what is happening on the Con. Just heard today that Spider Lake, a good camping area on the Con is being closed again. Bummer. Last year closed due to hazard (poo) in the lake surrounding area, and thsi year due to iresponsible wheelers driving off the trail.

Very bummed. Like I posted some pages ago, am bummed that what wheelers are actually causing trail closures, and not extreme green conservationists (nothing against conserving, but extreme http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. It has been hard to continue the clean ups and educate others on the trail... Hopefully people will start understanding more. We do trail clean ups, and things have gotten worse in the last years in most trails.. Hoping this will change. More info here:

I like Del's site. I was checking the Rubi' info out on PBB.
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=29

When I ran it(in my H2 http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif)in October of '03 Spider was a pisser. Asshats were coming up through Little Sluice at 1am blaring Guns'N'Roses(I smashed that CD when I got home) and banging their rigs around & gunning their engines until about 3am. I really thought about a mystery beating on those *******s.
My buddy & I hauled out a couple of bags of trash that was left behind by other idiots. Nice trail, but bad situation.

You're so right- the trail will get closed because of wheelers, not enviro-kooks.

Yep, some trails have been getting worse in the last years, if I had a buck for every can of Coors light and Corona I picked from teh trails we go... It is a sucky situation. A lot of kids that do not see the problem in front of their faces. getting pretty bad, and the Rubicon may become a posterchild to what is coming out next. Mored education needed, enforcement needed, trail manners, good common sense (too much drinking and driving on the trails lately). It gives wheeling and the sport a bad image it does not need. Also impacts anyone who wishes to even take their families on a simple SUV camp out.

We try enfrocing, even about people packing their poo out of the trail, but some just laugh, and keep on trashing. Pretty sad. On the plkus side, the community is recognizing this issues, and more aliances are forming to help prevent that, educate, and enforce good trail manners. Kind aonly time will tell, but do not wait.

I dig scuba, and anytime I am under I also collect piles of trash beer cans, plastic, bottles, etc. Would be easy to blame people fishing in the areas, and cope out, but it is not about that. Some people are not getting it until it is too late. It has got to change sometime.

So I heard kind of a nasty rumor about you some of you guys today. A Moab Local friend of mine said he was there at the Esclalator in Moab when you filmed that little piece. He said what you can't see in the video is the winch line hooked to the front. Any truth to this?

Also said that the hummer guys were the biggest bunch of unfriendly pricks he has ever run into on a trail.

Now I am not attacking anyone because I don't know if its true or not but if it is true maybe that explains a lot why you guys get razzed on the trail so much.

Attitude is everything ya know.

There was a Hummer group there (2 groups) that were total pricks, but they weren't H2s. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

DrMoab, may i suggest you take the time to read this whole thread before you start making comments like all trolls do: So I heard... A friend said... and yada yada yada...

During the last 24 hours, there has been many of you (possibly from the jeep boards?) coming over talking trash and still doesn't get the meaning of Dennis video...

Sigh.

DennisAJC

To add to that,

We actually spent some time with a Jeep group(About 12 of them) and we cheered them on as they went up Hell's Gate. They even gave one of our members a ride throught the obstacle. We all cheered and swapped cameras to take as they ascended and descended.

The only time we had a problem was when the "Other" group (H1s) were being snobby and doing stupid things like park in handicap spots and fire hydrants.

And to add more honesty to that, non of our group tried Hell's Gate. I had attempted Potato Salad but was too scared to try Hell's Gate. Huh, go figure. That is why we'll be going again this year. Just for that specific one.

Attitude is everything ya know. So, I heard the <span class="ev_code_RED">FACT</span>, not rumor, that a bunch of Jeepers where running around everywhere off trail, leaving all kind of trash on the trail, and basically giving wheelers a bad name to the citizens of Moab at this past easter jeep safari. So, STFU and quit putting your foot in your mouth. If you were remotely interested in anything here other that stirring the **** pot you would look at the original Moab video that shows that H2 going up Escalator and it's not edited in any way.

By the way, here is what a Moab local had to say about the Jeepers being there during the safari:As one person recently said about Jeep Safari in the local Moab newpaper, "What would you do if you invited a guest to your house and he broke all your dishes and crapped in your sink?" This April event has become the single most damaging human factor in the Moab area--an environmental OUTRAGE that must be stopped before it degrades the town's reputation and the beauty that surrounds it to such a point that people are no longer interested in coming here. Each year the damage done by hundreds of redneck Jeepers (not the Safari organizers, by the way, but renegades that attend the event but do not participate in the managed rides), create scars on the landscape, leave mounds of trash and distribute drunken bad vibes all over the desert. We follow beer cans like Hansel and Gretel all the way to their camp spots and get the bird when we ask them to obey the law. Sadly, organizers of the event and land management must shoulder the blame.

Slow down there man...I wasn't trying to stir any pots. I was really curious if this was fact or fiction.

As far as the EJS trust me I agree with you totally. I am so sick of all the ass hats that show up down there.

The group I run with doesn't even go on Easter just for this reason.

The Red Rockers...the group that put on the EJS has been batting around the idea of switching the safari to a weekend in May to get away from spring break weekend.

Its not the actual paying members of the EJS that is causing all the problems. Its all the yahoos that show up down there thinking its just a good spring break party spot.

But these guys aren't just driving jeeps. They are driving jeep, buggies, chevys, broncos, scouts and problebly a few of their daddys hummers also.

If your group wasn't the group in question thats cool. I just wanted to know.

Its funny you guys remind me of a bunch of whipped puppys. You really must get a lot of **** on the trail...way more then I realized to be so defensive.

On and as far as the video....yeah I get the point.I think most of us do.

Whipped puppies? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

We get **** on the trail, **** on the street by eco-nazi's, **** on 4x4 forums and **** on in the media. So yeah, being a little defensive would be expected. I'm not saying this with violins in the background it is just a fact.

For instance, I went to a park forum to ask about the trails to try and got so much crap my arms were full. "I have to see this, I've never seen a Hummer roll before! Hur hur."

Here's the link:

Howdy all.

I ended up here because of a link on a Jeep site regarding the video.
After reading several posts, I have a much better understanding of the Hummer community. So figured I'd join, not to stir any pot, but merely to be able to share info with other 4WD enthusiasts.
The video itself is a hoot when taken in the tongue-in-cheek manner it was intended. However, I do think the photochop dictator pics were in bad taste.
Anyhoo, just wanted to say hi, and if any of you members are planning something in SE Michigan I'd like to come by and meet ya in person. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well, Tom, the guy that made the video is Jewish and thinks the motherland is controlling Jeep right now. Matter of fact, I think I read somewhere he said that he believes Hitler is preserved in a cryogenic state in a MB.

JUST KIDDING!!!!!!

Seriously though, I think the intent of using him was his way of saying that Jeep is owned by MB.

I saw alot of humor in the video. I was laughing and enjoying it. Then Hitler.

Look, I know alot of people that built and used the old army jeeps during WWII, many (a few thousand) are my neighbors. They are old and retired and don't wheel or use the internet.

My pride may have something to do with it, but I feel as a Jeep owner who lives 3 miles from the Jeep plant, and is a WWII veterans grandson, who happens to use a Rubicon as a DD and happens to be a history (especially WWII) enthusiast, and has been walking on rocks since about 3yrs old,
That it is my duty to say/do something.

I may have taken it a little more personal than most. I'll get over it.

I get the point of the video. And I'm sorry that people rib H2's. But respect is MY point.

I still have no problems with whatever you wheel, I would like to see more H2 on the trails, and imagine that I will see some people from this board on the trails someday.

I have read this board before, and know what you guys are about. Really not much different than the rest of us web-wheelers, you just have H2's.

You get the sterotype because of all the bling, and we all know there is even a lower percantage of people that wheel thier H2 as compared to Jeeps.

so here is the sterotype facts fo me

I am not a "Brand loyalist" ( well a little, it's my local economy)
I prefer a Jeep because:
It snows here.
I can take top off.
I can take doors off.
The engineers get alot of good ideas to production. (and yes some bad ones)
They are generally easy to fix. (I work on all my own junk)
If all hell breaks looks on this planet and I survive with a full tank of gas, my long term survival chances are better than someone without one.

blah blah blah..and I can afford a H2 if I wanted one.

I DID ask a question. I heard a rumor and wanted to know if it was true. Someone said it wasn't you guys and that it was a group of H1 guys. Fine! Thats all I wanted to know.

Well there you have it. I thought the producer did the shot. While he did photochop the Jeep on the newspaper, I took that as Jeep now being a German co.

I believe that you guys have exceeded your expectations with the video. Pretty decent ruffling of feathers for the kiddies in Jeeps.

I have also seen a few of my jeepers have come over to congatulate you. They are the Majority. The boards I frequent are the not so popular ones, little more homegrown, lot better quality.
We weed out the idiots...lol ok maybe not all of them, and try to teach the kids how to keep places for us to wheel open.

I believe if you were to find some of these boards, you will find more trail companions.

I personally have only seen 2 off road. In the paking lot at Paragon. (all day???) and 1 at badlands, and this guy was out of his H2 (parked in clearing off trail) using hedgers on the trail we were running. We did get a big kick out that one.

And as long as you don't mind some "pinstriping" and dents, and me ribbing you and your IFS and wide and heavy ride then I will wheel with you anytime. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Pirate Crawler,

I will respond to you the way some Jeepers have talked to us over the years.

NO, NO, NO, I will NOT be educated! I'm closing my ears to you and asses the Jeep the way I see fit.

-The Liberty, TJ,YJ ALL share the same parts and frame as indicated in the video.

-Jeep is German owned.

-Countries like Iraq use Jeep.

-You all work at Burger Joints.

-Stay at the Mall and Bling your ride, that's what Jeeps are for.

Some of these are not true mind you, but the general public doesn't know that. They'll believe what I tell them because I can. I can spread misinformation about the Jeep as good or better than you guys can about the H2.

The video is designed to make you feel and react the way we've felt and reacted over the years being H2 owners.

I'm glad you enjoyed my video.

Hitler? Yikes...you are treading on some dangerous ground there. There's room enough for all types of vehicles on the trails, but this is a horrible vid due to the non-wheeling sh!t at the end. Where's your respect for our soldiers that fought against these guys. This is just disrespectful in so many ways. My guess is that GM and DC will be giving you a call as neither would want any association with this.

On a more technical note, the only thing that struck me is how little flex those H2s have. The rest is just opportunistic videos and pics that could have just as easily been H2s rolling, getting stuck, etc. When you wheel hard (in any vehicle) this type of stuff happens. Until now I hadn't judged the H2s or their owners...way to go. You aren't disproving your critics, but you are creating more.

OK, let me start off by saying that I can sympathize with all of you as I wheel with a Jeep Liberty. So I know how you can get harassed both on the trail and on the web. I also must admit that I didn't realize that people actually wheeled with the H2.

I first came across this video on the premiere Jeep Liberty Owners forum (http://www.lostkjs.com/forum/phpBB2/). I viewed the video and was a little annoyed at first by the attitude shown in the video, but also impressed with the wheeling shots of the H2. I then followed the link at the end of the video and came to this site. I've spent the last hour or so reading all of the posts here and I have come to understand the ideas behind this video. The problem is, this video is spreading like rapid fire and is going to be the first glimpse of the H2 wheeling community for many, many people; most of whom probably will not bother to come to this site and read this thread in its entirety. Instead they might think that the video represents the attitude of the H2 wheeling community, which it clearly does not (for most of you at least ... I have suspicions about one or two who shall remain nameless, but every group has its 10%).

So, for your community, this video may be a double edged sword. It will hopefully open more eyes to the capabilities and wheeling community of the H2, but it could also stir up allot of bad energy if it's taken in the wrong way (which is easy to do).

<step up on soap box>Personally, my one objection to it are the shots of Hitler and Hussein. This, to me, shows a blatant disrespect to all our Armed Forces who have given life and limb to remove these dictators from power. It was in bad taste, and I am not a person who is easily offended; parody and satire are fine, but this went to far IMHO.</soapbox off>

Anyway, for me at least, my eyes have been opened and I hope I get the chance to wheel with some of you soon (I'm near Pittsburgh, Pa)... Maybe I can make the Aug. 20th Paragon run, I've been itching to get back there, my last time there I was still bone stock.

Thanks for reading,

So tired of explaining along with my fellow H2ers, I'll just cut and paste my response.

I will respond to you the way some Jeepers have talked to us over the years.

NO, NO, NO, I will NOT be educated! I'm closing my ears to you and assess the Jeep the way I see fit.

Get the **** off of the our soldiers ****. I served this county in the United States Marine Corps. I have had about my fill of sidesteppers trying to use this as their own cross to bear just because they got their panties in a wad over something. Get the hell over it. The person who made the video is not an American. He did not go to american schools and did not serve in any of our Armed Forces. You tweedle-dums are making more out of the pictures he used becuase you should know better and should understand their meaning in the context of the video. None of you who have even mentioned Hitler in a Jeep has even had the balls to say what your problem with it is. You side-step it and push it off on our poor soldiers "over their" fighting. Screw that. Those sumbitches don't want to hear your whining and don't want you using them as your little pattycakes for hedging your weakened egos. ****, I imagine a bunch of them have seen the video and have laughed their ass off at it.

I know my 78 year old neighbor who served in WWII as a grunt sure did.

Tell you what, you go whine and bitch over in your little forums and leave it at that otherwise it will just get worse. We are grownups, we even have driver's licenses and were able to buy our trucks and can take responsibility for our actions and don't need idiots who can't speak the English language or even worry with accurate details preaching to us what we should be doing, thinking or saying.

pirate, you any good at playing the flute, I hear there may be a band that needs one.

as for the rest of the crap:

Yeah so the viseo was a joke but your execution was off and most of the hardcore guys think your idiots. I don't think thats how it was suppost to come out. Any these are the guys that usually will wheel with anyone unless they are dumbasses.

Props to you guys that do wheel, but in all honesty they won't work very well in the Black Hills cause your not gonna fit. Definatly look me up if you wanna try it though.

And this stock vs. sotck crap has got to stop. Stock to stock compares really don't mean crap. Unless you have the same equipment its pointless to compare anything side by side. Your H@ cost quite a bit more then most anyother vehicle and come equiped with quite a bit morethen a factory vehicle so it would be assumed it might wheel a bit better. Start spending the same money on the other vehicles as an H@ and everything starts to become a more lvel playing field and you can compare aplles to appples. 35+k in a Sammi, will yield a very baddass 4x4.

Anyways back to the point, I realy don't think the vid helped you guys and your cuase to be more excepted in the 4 wheeling community. Someone already mentioned everyone looks away when they show up on the trails, welll this doesn't help, joke or not. If you want to know a little secret the any wheeler that a jerk gets the same treatment, it's not the brand you drive it's the driver.

oh and heres a pic. mostly stock XJ, 31's 5" of lift(still lower then most other vehicles), no lockers. On lime is up against the wall and over the rock hump on the drivers side. Farther to the left maybe four feet is another rock wall. So you can't go around it or to the left at all. Well not unless you like roof rock rash.

The vehicle Willys was a farm vehicle. It pulled plows, haying equipment, etc but was then marketed to the Army when the Army was looking for a new GP vehicle. The Army's first GP vehicle was in the early teens by the way, about 30 years before the introduction of the Willys Jeep.

Also, since the '20s the Army referred to any new vehicle it tested as JEEP. In the '30s there were all kinds of tracked vehicles, wheeled vehicles as well as planes that referred to as JEEP. It was just a name they placed on everything.

Also, in the '40s who do you think built all of those Jeeps. Ford, GM, Willys, and other contractors all built the same vehicle. So, with all that said, STFU.

Let's get some things straight here. I don't know where this notion that H2 owners are somehow noobies to wheeling came from but, guys, wake up. Yes, there are people that bought the H2 and only drive them on the paved road but there are 50 times more Jeeps doing the same duty, so give it a rest.

Now we have idiots from rock crawling websites coming here to tell us how we should act, what our rigs can or can't do, etc. We've been bashed since before we actually took delivery of the vehicle. Idiots that haven't even seen one in person yet was telling us what they were made of, could and couldn't do, etc. Well, one intrepid H2 owner exacts a little payback, a little tit for tat if you will and now somehow we should have been more mature, should have known better, should not have stooped to their level. Cry me a river. H2 owners are part of the off-road community, like it or not. We are good wards of said community just as we were when we were wheeling our Jeeps, Tacos, Land Bruisers or whatever we had before the H2 came along. No one ever claimed the H2 as an extreme rock crawler.

As a matter of fact. Why don't you yahoos try wheeling a truck that you care about and don't want to get dented and scratched to heck and back. No, every single complainer has said something about the cost of the H2. Well, we know how much they cost and don't particular care to get it banged to hell and having to replace diffs, axles, t-cases, etc. While I am sure many of you won't get it, but it is much easier to have a rig where you can just go bang around and not worry about sliding it round a rock or rolling it over. All you have to do is go to the scrap heap, get some more metal and weld it back, rattle can it and be done.

We have to drive with a little more finesse, attempting to conquer obstacles and leave the trail without damage. To us, a dent is not a badge of honor. It's a different kind of wheeling and one many more people subscribe to than you self-proclaimed expert rock crawlers. The majority of wheelers wheel their daily drivers and are not fond of banging them up. We're no different. So, sit down and STFU. When we need your opinion, we'll come over to one of your websites and ask for it.

Some JEEPers can be such asshats.
Yeterday Kira was in the gas station filling up the H3 and this guy pulls into the station to fill up in a lifted Jeep. she said it had about a 4" with 33's and chrome rims. Not a single scratch on the rig anywhere. It looked good I'm sure. That's all that was done to it. The guys drives up next to her and gives her the thumbs down. What a ****! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif She laughed it off and asked him if he actually takes that "thing" off road and rolled her eyes. What a typical Jeep owner. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif When I had my WJ lifted, I had gotten the same thing from the "hard core" Jeepers that I was driving a soccer mom rig. You happened to use a subject that is tired and old on this forum. Too many times it has been used as a token example of why we shouldn't own, drive or do something. You said it was your opinion that it was blatant disrespect. While it's your opinion, I take offense to that because I will take offense anytime someone suggests that I have disrespected a deserving member of our Armed Forces. Using pictures from the internet photochopped by someone else to make a point is not disrespect. It had nothing to do with those who have fought for our country and in no way offended them, it offended Jeep owners, which was the intent. Granted some Vets are Jeep owners and some Vets have smack-talked H2s and us as owners, but to paint the whole thing as being offensive to members of the Armed Forces is simply an attempt to disparage the true intent of it.

Warning of this video was given even before it was made. The maker even said he was going to put together a video to piss the Jeepers off the same way they have been doing to us the past few years. Just admit it, it's not fun when the crosshairs are on you.

As a matter of fact. Why don't you yahoos try wheeling a truck that you care about and don't want to get dented and scratched to heck and back.

I found this amusing too. I just got my first dent in my drivers side rear quarter panel. I almost cried! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

But I put on a set of trail corners to cover up the damage. They make trail corners for H2s yet?

That being said I HATE that FUh2 site even worse. Why? Becuase the people that are in control of that site and 99% of the people who post there hate H2s for the wrong reason. They would hate jeeps just as much as Hummers.

The reason I don't like H2s is a totally personal one. There is no way an H2 would ever be capable of the type of wheeling I love. They are just too wide, heavy and weak in certian areas to ever make a decent rig....or at least for the money you spend.

60K will build me any kind of jeep or other vehicle with axles, gears, lockers and what not that will never break.

60K gets the hummer owner a very nice rig that will do most easy trails and a few hard ones too and sure they will ride nice going down the road.

The fact that they get less MPG then I get with a pickup towing my jeep is kind of silly though.

I have said it before..you guys who wheel your H2s Cool. Love to meet you on the trail sometime and spend the day.

You do have to wonder though...Why do you guys have such a bad rep? These things don't come about for no reason ya know.

I think the wheelin guys on this list are far far far outnumbered by the Hummer owners who will never ever in a million years take their rides off the pavment and to me...its just stupid to buy something so big and heavy that will never get used for what it was designed.

I'm guessing thats where a lot of the hatred for Hummers come from. If you buy them and use them only to get kids at socer games (and don't tell me this isn't a primary use) They are a worthless pile of steaming crap!

Warning of this video was given even before it was made. The maker even said he was going to put together a video to piss the Jeepers off the same way they have been doing to us the past few years. Just admit it, it's not fun when the crosshairs are on you.

May I see the video? The link currently isn't working.

As for being in the crosshairs, well, Jeep has been there for 60+ years now, so it's nothing new, and fun isn't a consideration for them.

We'll talk 4x4 lineage later.

Please don't flame me, I'm not here to flame you, just want to see the video.

I would have to disagree with you on where the hatred comes from. You said you hate them because they are a total waste of money. In your opinion it may be a waste of money but that doesn't change what it is or isn't capable. Almost all people, especially wheelers, that come down on the H2 mention the price continually, which you did several times. That, to me, screams jealousy. You might not be jealous but many are. I also think a lot of people feel threatened by it for whatever reason. I am not saying this is why you don't like it but I think it covers a high number of the people that do. As for the people that post on FUh2, they are just lemmings jumping on the band wagon and think they are sooooo cool for doing it. They just need to get a life. As far as most will not go off road in their H2, you are very correct, at least in this area. An why does that make it a steaming piece of crap? Because they are choosing what they want to do with their vehicle. They bought it, they can do what they want with it and it doesn't change anything. Whether you want to admit it or not, there are a large percentage of Jeep owners that will never take theirs on anything harsher than a gravel road or a beach. Does that make the Jeep a steaming pile of crap? I didn't think so. Let people drive and enjoy what they want and lets just go out and wheel and have a good time. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, just don't bash someone else because they choose to like something you don't. Everyone needs to open their minds so they can listen and learn. Just my two cents http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you still read on you might notice that I said I think Hummers have thier place in the off road world.

You want to show me what they can do...OK Show me a Hummer fitting through trees a CJ will barly fit through. Show me a Hummer that will follow a light weight jeep over top of spring time snow( and I can prove this can't happen)

And you guys here....Constantly bring up the jealousy thing...
Its not Jealousy...Its a matter of where to put your money.

I see guys spend 60K or more on rigs of all kinds all the time. To me its smarter to buy a cheaper rig and build it more capable then spending the total amount on the vehilce.

Are you guys going to honsetly tell me that a bone stock H2 will go the same places a jeep built with 60K worth of equipment is going to go?

Trust me....There might be some people who are Jealous of hummers. They just are not very well informed....regardless of what you guys say.

I have spent a lot of years wheeling...had lots of friends with lots of rigs and some of them are very very well off. None of them would own a Hummer. They would rather spend their money on a vehicle that suits their needs. As would I.
And if you think that is knocking hummers...your crazy.

Just go a Google picture search. First type in Jeep and see the ratio of Jeeps on dirt compared to off. Then try Hummer and/or H2. Look at the ratio again. Its kinda hard to argue with.

As you can see, I didn't say that you were jealous, I said it screams jealousy. So you think it is smart to spent the money building what you want. So be it. That is certainly up to you and I would never knock it. I don't think that anyone said that a H2 would or wouldn't go where a Jeep built with $60K would go. That has never been the debate. It is all personal preference. If I want to spend $60K on a rig straight from the factory rather than build one, that is my choice. Doesn't change whether it is capable or not. And to argue your case by saying you would like to see an H2 go between trees that a Jeep barely fits between or over fresh snow is kind of a lame argument. Not one H2 owner that I saw said that a H2 could go anywhere a Jeep can go regardless if it came down to size. They are both very capable vehicles and if you truly want to have an open mind and see what an H2 can or can't do, meet the group out at Moab in Oct. Go wheeling together, I bet everyone will have a great time once the brand rivalry is left behind.

Ok, sorry, couldnt resist. Just picked up the new Four Wheeler and it had the top picks in each class listed. Of course the Rubicon took the compact SUV hands down, but the H2 took the Fullsize SUV, over the H1, due to price. It did also beat out the Landcruiser so I have to give points for that.

As far as the google search, try serching "Jeep TJ" which came out in '97, to narrow the field.

Or, if you are up to it, try "Jeep Rubicon" which came out in 2003. Please, please try Jeep Rubicon! That good enough for ya?

It will narrow the field but that is still 6 years difference. You also have to take into account that the sales figures for each year won't be comparible due to the selling price of each.

I know, I brought up the whole price thing http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif but not as a negative for either side.

You Jeep guys can continue to drive your POS Jeeps through tiny little trails just big enough for you to pass. Who the hell wants to do that?? It's very funny to me that you consider that "Wheeling"
Of course you don't care if you hit a couple of Trees along the way because those of you that don't care drive the biggest "Little" POS Jeeps around!!
You see ... the trick to wheeling is to at least try to avoid accidents if possible! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
If you actually cared about your ride you would learn how to "wheel" and try not to hit anything!
The truth is anyone can have a Jeep including lot's of High School Grads, but if given the choice of a Hummer or a Jeep to keep and drive I can tell you anyone and I mean anyone including all you Jeepers would take the Hummer.
Admit it or don't but the first step to releasing your obvious pent up jealousy is admitting you have a problem!

Well, OK, Im not sure your idea of wheeling....but stick to the dirt roads, as thats seems to be the only thing you didnt rule out!

If I wanted to drive an H2 I could buy any Chevy SUV for half the price. And BTW, I love driving my Jeep, everyday, as a daily driver....as do most Jeep owners, so I challenge you to back up the claim that most Jeep owners would rather have an H2 "to keep and drive."

The rumors are that those protoypes were displayed for a cross section of Jeep owners to get input on that idea. As far as I know that is not production, nor anyway reflecting what will be done in 2006.

BTW, Jeep has yet to release the model designation of the new Jeep. Speculation is the TJ designation may end and a new one is forthcoming perhaps

The TK is the 2007 model of the Wrangler. It's the all new designed and is being tested as we type. It won't have 6 banger anymore, will not have removeable tops and...... You are talking about spy photos with all the black rags on top, and a lot of speculation.

The engine MAY be the small 3.7l from the Liberty, or another mid-sized V6. The designation MAY also be JK or TK, as thatis not clear yet either.

OK ... let me re-phrase.
If someone were to give you a choice of a new Jeep or a new H2 (for FREE to own and drive) and the price of gas was no object because they also gave you an unlimited gas card for as much free gas as you need for that specific truck, what do you honestly think anyone would take?
(and don't give me a stupid answer like:
I would sell the H2 and build a new jeep.

Even playing your silly little game I would do exactly as you said. Sell the H2 and with the extra money, build a wicked Jeep. Unlike you I do not need DVD players, 5000w stereo systems, warming seats for my senstive bottom, etc.

Is that the best you guys can come up with??????? It's too wide????It's too heavy???

Those qualities RARELY apply in real off road situations. Did nature specify a width JUST for fawking Heeps??

How about, Jeeps are too tiny, too guttless, too fragile???

Did you think the US Military Machine said, "What if we come between two trees and it's too narrow for the Hummer????" http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Bottom line is JEEP will ALWAYS be chasing HUMMER. Jeep will always be one step behind and it pisses you off. The HUMMER grill fiasco always brings a grin to my face.

Get his facts strait? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. It still has a six banger in it...Just not an inline six. It will still have a soft top. They are just comming out with a hard top version also.

You are right...the info has been out for a long time. However its all info on the prototype The info on the production version has not been released yet.

I have to say though its a shame what DC is doing to jeeps.

The truth is anyone can have a Jeep including lot's of High School Grads, but if given the choice of a Hummer or a Jeep to keep and drive I can tell you anyone and I mean anyone including all you Jeepers would take the Hummer.

Thanks but I'll stick with my Liberty.. small and agile enough to follow a Wrangler with most of the creature comforts and highway friendliness of your H2s.

Are you comparing an H1 with your silly little H2? You have got to be kidding me right? Fragile? can you say I. F. S.? SNAP! I was able to break 2 H-1's in the military also. Its no secret the H-1 front end was weak.

As far as chasing a Hummer H2 or H3 when they arrive, lets take out a stock Hummer and a stock Rubicon, and see who really goes where and who doesn't. There is your challenge: Stock vs Stock.

ANY of you up for it?

I guess it depends on the type of wheeling you are doing. Wide and heavy are constanly a battle in the fourwheeling world I play in. Even in an XJ I find situations where I wish I was narower or lighter then I am.
Ask the guy I pulled out of the snow.

How about, Jeeps are too tiny, too guttless, too fragile???
Too gutless or fragile? Wanna race? Stock vs Stock? Whats your 0-60 times?
Too fragile? How many tie rods have you broke?

It will have a base engine the same as the Liberty but will have an optional small V-8, not a V-6. It doesn't matter what they call it once it starts production. It's known now as the TK and it's not a prototype, that was last year. This thing is in testing now and will hit the streets next year.

Why do you think there are so many pissed off Jeep owners?
DC is Hummerizing them more and more and the real jeep guys...Not the highschool chearleaders hate it.
The highschool chearleaders would rather have a hummer anyway...it fits their lifestyle better.

The story I read in JP mag...where they talked to the DC reps basicly stated that DC knows that with the invention of the new grand with IFS and the Liberty that they need to keep an open top, two live axle vehicle or they will lose alot of sales.

DC maybe doind some very stupid things but they aren't going to sink that low.

Still have two questions unaswered:

Anyone want to go head to head with a stock H2 vs a stock Rubicon

and

What winches are the H2s running and what weight rating?

As far as head to head with a Rubicon, we already have. In fact, sadly, he put it in a mud hole and that is the picture a few pages back of an H2 pulling him out. Then, there's probably a pic of the same guy pulling me after I had an issue on the trail. So in one day, we messed both rigs up. Don't assume we're all a bunch of newb's that don't know what off road is.

Some folks run a Warn 9.5 on a cradle, for front and rear operation. Some have custom bumpers with much larger and heavier rated winches.

You say that you wouldn't hold against anyone for wanting what fits their needs, that's great. Nobody should. So you don't like the H2, or any Hummer for that matter. That is fine, just say that. Don't say that you hate H2s and that they are steaming piles of crap. That is the type of thing that gets these wars going. I not saying that you started it or anything but come on, just say that you don't like them and leave it at that. Personally, a Hummer fits my needs better than a Jeep but that doesn't make me want to bash them or hate them. I just personally don't want one over a Hummer. That is my choice and that should be respected as my choice seeing how it is my vehicle just as I would respect your choice seeing how it is your vehicle.

Of course Jeep has been the pillar of the off-road world. Come on damn it, they have had fifty years to build that rep. How long has the Hummer, of any kind, been around let alone the H2. Give it a chance to prove itself. That is one of the big reasons that you see far more Jeeps off road than Hummers, they have been around forever. The new guy on the block is putting up a fight and that really seems to scare some of the loyalist. Not saying it scares you, but hell, you got to give them a chance and not just discount it because it's not a Jeep.

When are you guys going to be in Moab? My group will be there from the 8th through the 12th(I think..have to recheck dates)

It would be cool to see if you guys are as nice in person as you claim.

The reason I asked about what winches were being run is I did not know what mouts were made (if any at all) into the stock H2, and what weight it takes to get that hunk of junk unstuck on a daily basis.

Nice boards, ask an honest question, get an ignorant person to answer.

I remember wheelin at the beach and I ran into a Jeep club(About 10 of them).

The leader ran them into some deep sand and they were all stuck thrashing around like dying beached whales.

I hooked them ALL up at the same time and winched all 10 to safety.

Afterwards the men offered me their women as an offering for saving their lives.

I was spent that day.

True story! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Now is there a stock mounting location or is it an aftermarket application?

Keep it up....you are really showing the rest of us non-hummer drivers the attitude you guys truly have.

If you could get over yourself for just long enough to read my post again...without thinking that everything a non-hummer driver says is out to hurt you or something... You might have noticed that nowhere in my post did I say you should drive anything else then what you drive.
I was just making the point that I...me...personaly have no use for one.

Come on...I dare you! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

OK, why don't you show me your CJ fitting through trees a zuki or atv or bikes will barely fit http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif In case you haven't read this thread from the beginning, you obviously still do not understand the meaning of the video.

Nice boards, ask an honest question, get an ignorant person to answer. Dumb ass. This is what you asked BTW, what kind of winches are those and what weight rating? And the answers Posted by Rox:
Some folks run a Warn 9.5 on a cradle, for front and rear operation. Some have custom bumpers with much larger and heavier rated winches. Posted by Paragon:
What winches are Jeeps running? What a ridiculous question. People run anything from Milemarker to Warn from 9.5 to 15Ks. You would have to ask someone specific what winch they have not the entire group. I guess you didn't understand the answers. Too many syllables for you to handle? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif And you insult our trucks. Still have two questions unaswered:

Anyone want to go head to head with a stock H2 vs a stock Rubicon

and

What winches are the H2s running and what weight rating?

Sure you can afford 2 H2s. Just like all other trolls that come in here. Let's see, we had someone claiming to have a 7 digit bank account driving a range rover and if memory serves me right, you have 2 rubicons that you have spent $70k on and a $60k dually, right?

I would but I don't drive a CJ. And I do understand the meaning of the video. It was funny from the perspective of a hummer owner. I wonder how you would take a video that put hummers in the same light...especialy if whoever made the video stated that it was only trying to get back at all the mis-information the hummer world puts out against jeeps.

There is your challenge: Stock vs Stock.

Handling a side impact of a VW at 35 mph....? The Jeep driver can let me know how it went when he wakes from a coma. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Hmm, an atv is 3'~ 4' wide and a cj is 5'~ 6' wide, you would drive a cj thru two trees that are say 4.5' apart? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

And if you actually spend a few mins and read this entire thread, you wouldn't be bringing up these same old arguments. Yes the vid was funny and not only to hummer owners. There have been jeep owners coming over to this board and think it was funny as well. And yes hummers have been and still are under the same light as many owners on this board will agree. Which is the point of this vid.

So you think the maker of this vid should've put a disclaimer/explanation at the end of this vid? I surely don't recall any disclaimer/explanation when I see all the crap ppl put out on the net.
