DO IT.
Before I put my lift on my H2, my gas mileage was roughly 11-12 mpg. That was driving mostly city, minor highway. When I put the lift with the 38's on it, my mileage immediately went from the 11-12 mpg to 8.6-9.1 mpg. My logic was to install 4.56's which would bring the truck as close as possible to the stock configuration. Point is, though I only installed them this weekend, I am averaging 11.0-11.5 mpg with way more power. Excluding the labor because I did it, I've got less than 700 bucks in it. At a 2-3mpg increase, it won't take long to cover the cost of the gears. Anyway, DEFINITE improvement, well worth the effort and money. Mark |

I'm running 37's (no lift) and noticed no difference in mpg....Still @ like 12.

OC, what make did you install? I want to do that this spring my H2 doesn't like to move my 41's

I waited a long time before I finally changed the gears. Huge difference, wished I did it sooner. I also went with 4.56 gears.

Granted, they are a little smaller than the 38's but still, it wasn't even close. God forbid I try to tow anything. |
