Default Rock rails from a jeep on a H3

Anyone tried or thought about using Jeep rocker rails on the H3?
I like the OEM rails, but i would like them to stick out further for side protection and to use as a step.
The jeep rails if they fit would be perfect, key would be to find a jeep rail from either a XJ, Unlimited, or Grand Cherokee with the same length as the H3. Plus jeep rails are only about $250 to $350 dollars, most are made out of .120mm steel, like the factory model.

By the time you finish modding them to fit the H3 you might as well just get the OEM's or a full custom job.

While the OEM's are a bit costly, they are sturdy and are a simple bolt-on.

Don't any of you guys have acces to a chop saw, welder and some steel? The square tube sliderz would be EASY to build and pretty dang cheap too if you already have the tools.
