Talk about police escorts, how about HUMMER escorts too. This was our last HH:

Big E Sailors Ride for Charity

By JO2(SW/AW) Rebekah Caruso

Thirty USS Enterprise (CVN 65) Sailors participated in the Hampton Roads Fleet Week “Rumble Through the Tunnel” Oct. 16.

More than 6,000 motorcyclists participated in the event, which raised more than $15,000 for the Navy and Marine Corps Relief Fund through registration fees.

Escorted by 35 Hummer vehicles and Hampton Roads area police, the motorcyclists rode through all seven Hampton Roads area cities and passed through the four connecting tunnels.

“The ride was a blast,” said Chief Electrician's Mate (SW) David Zelinski of Enterprise's engineering department.

According to Zelinski, Enterprise's participation in the Rumble was not command-sponsored, but it was motivated by the individuals, themselves. “It was kind of impromptu," he said. "We just kind of got together to help support the ride."

Hey, i don't recall any pics of this.

Maurice Slaughter, president of the Harley-Davidson Bayside Co., said it's the Sailors who make the Rumble such a huge event every year.

“This is one of our biggest charity events,” he said. “It’s the right event in the right place at the right time. A lot of our customers are active or former military, so it’s kind of a reunion for them, as well.”

The Sailors who participated in the Rumble this would like to see more of their shipmates take advantage of an amazing event that benefits all Sailors.

“Everybody who’s got a bike should get out here and do it,” said Chief Aviation Electronics Technician (AW/SW) Michael Malet of Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department. “It benefits the Navy and Marine Corps Relief Fund, so all of our Sailors benefit.” </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
