For those of you who leave the spare behind, do you have the models with the inside-the-back spare? If so, does anyone make an aftermarket rear spare carrier? Would that solve your problem? I don't mind mine at all on the back (though I will probably loose the hard cover - like the tire showing better). Also, if I ever really space out (don't plan on it), I'd rather the spare to bump some hidden pole when backing up than my truck. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I have the carrier from an 04 and it sucks vs the 05/ 06 setup. They rattle and still block your view somewhat. If you back into something hard enough, it's not just yout tire, because that tire than hits your rear gate too.

I just like the clean look back there. I'm going to put the fullsize GOBI rack up top and be done with it.

I really take too many trips to the mountains and down south in the state to leave a tire behind. I take equipment in and out of the back and that tire is a PIA sometimes.
